luke: Uh yeah my dad forces me to ask you to come too.
evelyn: yep
evelyn: see u in a few hours
luke: Yeah.
as i grab my bag, phone and wallet, i walk out of the house. i get inside my car and make my way (((downtown HAHAHAHAHA so funny))) to luke's house.
i pass by a few houses before spotting his. i get out of my car, making sure to grab my wallet, phone, keys and bag before i step out completely. i stare at the door before knocking.
we've only known eachother for like a week and was set up by our fathers, yet on text we feel so close and in real life, he shuts me out. i hope he doesn't act like he was the first time we met up. he was straight up rude, and shut me out comepletely, and only talked to me about homework. i mean yes, the whole reason i know him is to help him with his studies, but all the countless hours of him bothering me on text, i feel we've known eachother for more and not only for tutoring.
i shouldnt feel so attached, we literally met a week ago, don't know much about him, and most of the time i see him, he hates me. completely loathes me. i dont know why though.
i see him as a close friend though, and he makes me laugh with his stupid texts and ugly emoticons that make me slightly uncomfortable but i send him the same one back too. i like to bother him about calum, powerpuff girls and his complete awkwardness when he attempts to make conversations, and fail miserably and create an awkward chat and i try to make him feel better. he makes me smile, even if he's a complete dick and literally have said this thirty times, i have only known him for a week. thats insane. not even my closest friends make interesting and sometimes, disturbing conversations.
i finally get the courage to knock, and wait a few seconds until someone opens.
a woman who had features just like luke, opens the door.
"oh h-hello." i say completely offguard, and stuttering with my words.
"hello honey, you must be evelyn. andy and your father set you up to tutor my son?" she says, a sweet smile on her face.
"uh, yes." i say, giving a small smile back.
"how is luke doing so far?" she asks as she hands me a drink and i kindly thank her.
"um, after like one tutor session, he's getting there."
"is he polite to you?"
i stutter, "yes, most of the time." i quietly laugh as she does the same thing.
"im sorry. luke is super rowdy and lo-" she says as she gets cut off by the man himself.
he sprints down the stairs, how dangerous. make note to lecture him about that later.
his hair is down in a fringe, his sweat pants covering his long legs, a tight shirt covering his torso.
he had eye bags, but it was cute on him. sort of. he looks like he just woke up.
"hello evelyn." he says, avoiding my gaze.
"hey luke." i grin at him, but he doesn't seem to notice.
"um yeah, let's go to my bedroom to study." he says, yet again avoiding my gaze.
i give a quick nod, as we slowly walk up the stairs that seemed like it went on forever, the awkward tension filling the tiny space.
we walk through the dark hallway, me almost tripping in the process. luke didn't see anything.
when he opens the door to his room, i find a room white white furniture, and a bunch of band posters and band albums on his nightstand and desk. the bands i notice filling up the space in the room is all time low, fall out boys, artic monkeys, the 1975, and a bunch more.
"sorry about that," he says while pushing all the albums off the desk and i set my stuff ontop.
"okay what subject today, lucas?" i say, giggling a bit.
"uh, spanish?" he says, unsure while looking at his agenda.
"okay, mi amigo, let's start." i say, trying to sound the most spanish or mexican i could.
"um, evelyn? could we talk before we start?" he says, a worried look on his face.
"yep, luke?" i give him a smile.
"remember the text about how we're not friends and you just tutor me?" he says, avoiding my gaze for the third time or forth.
"yes..?" i say, confused.
"the same rules still apply. im s-sorry, i got carried away yesterday with the texts and... i just want to confirm, we aren't friends. never." he says, finally looking deep into my eyes.
i'm lost for words, it just came as a bomb to me. why? what did i do wrong?
"um y-yeah sure. let's get started on tutoring then.." i say, trying to keep back my frown etching on my face.
"im sorry, it's just that, i dont want new friends. especially a tutor my dad forced me to get. especially you. i need to remember i'm very annoyed of you." he says, expression changing from worried or sad, to blunt and mono.
"yep, i understand luke, dont worry about it." i say as i pull out my text books.
