Chapter 63. Overloading Strength

Ash and Serena are on their way out to leave Lumiose city. As they reach the city's exit Kirlia pops out of her Pokeball.

Kirlia: Kirrr

Serena: Hmm? Is something wrong?

Kirlia: Kir..

A nearby bush starts to shake. Ash puts his arm in front of Serena, warning her not to pass in case of a vicious wild Pokémon.

Out comes an injured female Pikachu.

A Pikachu: Pika P!!

F Pikachu: Pi?? Ka.. *faints*

Ash and Serena: Oh No!!

Ash: it doesn't look good at all, what could have happened to it.

Serena lifts the injured Pikachu up and the two decide to run and carry it to a Pokémon center quickly.

Nurse Joy: You brought this Pikachu right on time. She sustained serious injuries so she might have to rest here for a bit, but I'm curious what could have happened. Is she any of yours? Seeing that you have a male Pikachu, I'd guess the female is yours right?

Serena shakes her head in disagreement.

Serena: Actually, we were just about to leave this town when we saw it hop it of a bush and then it fainted. We aren't even sure what could have happened.

Ash: Maybe it could have gotten attacked by a wild Pokémon.

Nurse Joy: I guess, stuff like that usually do happen. That's why I was hoping that we can get an adoption center on the outside of this city for the smaller and frail pokemon.

Ash: Would there be anyone to look after them?

Nurse Joy: As of right now, no. But I'd we can indeed finish off with building up the adoption center, then it would be less freak accidents like this to happen. It will also open up more jobs for people that need them.

Serena: So Nurse Joy, how far from completing the adoption center is it?

Construction man: Just got done. All there really left to do is paint the in and outside and have workers.

Nurse Joy: That's great news.

Construction man: I overheard you saying there won't be any workers. That's not good, but perhaps if we can get some job noticed up then perhaps people will consider the job.

Ash: when is the official opening?

Nurse Joy: In 2 days.

Construction man: don't worry, we'll get some workers in sooner or later.

Ash: that's good to hear.

Ash looks over at Serena who still has a worried look on her face. He rests his hand in her shoulder and gives her a positive look.

Ash: Don't worry, I'm sure that Pikachu will be alright.

Serena: I hope so. I can only imagine what other Pokémon may have probably went through if that's the case. Hey Ash, mind if we help with painting the adoption center?

Ash: *smiles* Yeah let's do that.

Construction man: *laughs* hahaha that's what I like to hear. It's always good to see young people that enjoy working.
