Chapter 14: Need for Speed

"Hey, sis?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you sure it's safe to be adding that many rockets to your bike?"

Storm-Nya turned, flipped the welding helmet she was wearing up, and grinned at her twin, "Of course! Any way to win that race!"

Kai's face morphed into concern, "You know you don't have to win, right?"

"Duh, but I want to win!"

"Isn't MK and Mei also going to be there?"

"Yup!" She turned back, flip the mask down, and went back to work. Kai just looked at his sister and shook his head, she could be so competitive and he could never talk her out of it. Not even when they were kids. He'll just have to warn the two before the race starts.

Okay so Mei and MK were being competitive towards one another as well, he never thought he'd see the day that the two best friends that were practically joined at the hip would argue about a race. If he had to bet money between them two, it'd be on Mei.

He watched as MK cried out in betrayal as Tang didn't say, but was obviously rooting for Mei with the little flag that he was holding. He shrugged and pulled out his phone, texting the group that Pigsy was going to have the big race playing at the shop if they wanted to come. He slipped his phone into the jacket and went in, he wondered how his little sister would fair in these conditions.

How was she supposed to work in these conditions?!

Most of the racers bailed when Demon Bull King and Princess Iron Fan pulled up in their massive vehicle after Red Son yelled at MK and Mei to shut up. So those were Red's parents? She looked at the couple and back at the fire demon a few times...how does that work?

No Nya! Now is not the time to be thinking about that, she shook her head only to register the two new voices over the intercoms speaking, "We've taken the liberty of changing the track!"

The map on the big screen changed into what she could describe as a mess, "Get from here to there any way you like! Now!"

Nya did a double take, "What!"

"Get ready!"

"Wait!" Mei shouted.

"Get set!"

"Hold on!" Red Son yelled.

"GO!"

The massive vehicle nearly knocked her over as it sped past her. Shit, she wasn't going to lose this thing, regardless of this highjacking, she sped forward along with the others, at least there was less competition now, with just her, MK, Mei, Red, and the demon's parents. She glanced over at Mei, the two of them have actually raced a few times together. She grinned, as she sped behind MK who got the lead, laughing after she heard the woman say something, but she didn't hear what.

She had to win!

She and Mei raced forward, Mei cutting off DBK and PIF when they launched off a ledge, Red appearing on the other side of their parents, and MK landing in front but spinning out of control before rightening himself.

She spotted some arrows on the sides of the track, sharply turning her handles she met every sharp turn in the twisted portion of the track, only for her bike to jump at a loud sound. She yelped but kept steady, what was that?

"Looks like DBK and PIF are literally driving through the mountain!"

"Guess we'll meet back up with them...on the other side of the mountain?"
