"Maul wanted me to bring you to him," said Theleema at the table aboard the Outcast, having explained her encounter with the former Sith Lord. The team sat around the table while Ilum cooked dinner.
"You should have," Syrran said. "That way we could have ended our problem with him once and for all."
"Now that he has the Shadow Collective behind him, it's going to be tough," said Quinlan, petting a purring Chak-Chak in his arms.
"No one is untouchable," Virra said. "Darth Sidious learned the hard way."
"I'm sure he begs to differ," Gorin said.
"We can't get sidetracked," Addia said. "We now know about the Exobogans and that Sidious is interested in that space station in the Maw. That should be our priority."
"So is Maul," Theleema said. "He's not going to rest until he gets what he wants."
"Why do you think he wants us?" Elynn said. "Vigos for the Shadow Collective?"
"Maybe. Or maybe it's just his sheer need for revenge. He wanted Syrran to join him or die if he refused. Whatever it is, we don't want any part of it. Trust me."
"Maul, the Shadow Collective, the Sith, the Exobogans, the Empire, the Hutts; we collect more problems than we solve," Addia said.
"Here you go, Gruuvan Shaal Kebabs, in honor of our Twi'lek friends." Ilum placed a steaming pile of them on a large tray at the center of the table. A white napkin hung from the crook of his arm.
"Please, don't feed Chak-Chak scraps from the table," Virra said to Quinlan. "I want to have one meal with her begging for food."
"You think she'd had enough from Lum feeding while he's cooking," Elynn said.
"She is my taster," said Ilum, making Chak-Chak purr at him as Quinlan let her down from his arms so he could eat. "I hope I got the amount of red curry paste right."
"So do we." Jarriss took a kebab.
"When did we change the name of the ship to the Domestic," Addia said before drinking some of her blue milk.
"What a fitting way to celebrate our first smuggling job," Theleema reached for one of the kebabs.
"And hopefully our last," Gorin said. "As long as we have coaxium to sell, we're going to be financially sound."
"That's too bad," Addia said. "We could have made a living as a traveling band."
"You have a lot of faith in all our musical talents," Virra said.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing. Just saying." Virra focused her attention on her food.
"This is good stuff, Lum," Quinlan said.
"I am glad you approve, Master Vos," Ilum said.
"Here's to our first successful smuggling run." Syrran said raised her glass.
"Hold on." Jarriss poured Ilum a glass of blue milk, so he could symbolically join the toast, and then recited:
'All night the ways of heaven were desolate,
Long hyperroutes across a gleaming empty sky.
Outcast and doomed and driven, you and I,
Alone, serene beyond all dark or light,
Searching the galaxy for injustice to smite.
Braving forward where others may have faltered."
