Caden's pov

Rhiannon kept screaming but I didn't know why. She waved at me, so I waved back.

Poww!

Blood spluttered on my shirt and my face. The lady in front of me had been shot. People kept screaming and running about. The last thing I saw was Rhiannon rushing down my direction.

"Caden!...Caden!...wake up!...please, please, don't leave me here like mom did! You are all I have left!...wake up" Rhiannon kept shaking my shoulders

"Rhi...Rhiannon" I managed to say

" Caden! Are you okay? Where'd you get shot?" She said breathlessly

" I didn't get shot, I'm fine" I assured her

" The blood...there's blood...are you sure?"

I nodded and pointed the woman on the floor. It seemed she hadn't noticed the woman got shot instead of me.

" we have to leave. Please get up" she said helping me up

We sat in the car and I drove off. I went straight to the hospital. We were both silent throughout the drive. I couldn't make a conversation because of what happened back at the school. I don't know why but I felt like Rhiannon was hiding something from me. She kept looking away from me.

When we got to the hospital, I tried talking to her but she brushed me off and went inside. She was behaving strange again and it was pissing me off.

"Caden! Do you ever answer your phone? Dad's missing!" Valia screamed in my face while crying

" what? How? Isn't there security? Wh...where's mom?"

" she's with the doctor...I..."

" stay here " I said and rushed to the room my dad was in

My mom was pale and she looked weak. Everything showed that she was finding it hard to look okay. She had dried tears on her cheeks. She looked my direction and I went over to hug her. She hugged me back and gave me a smile.

" are you okay" I asked concerned

She nodded and tapped my shoulder. I turned to the nurses.

" don't you have security?" I asked calmly

My mom knew what my calmness meant so she held my shoulder.

" yes, we do sir" the taller one said

" great. Why do you think we paid for a VIP room?"

" for security sir" the shorter one answered

"So why THE HELL IS MY FATHER NOT HERE?" My scream made the shorter one fall to her knees

She started sobbing.

" Caden, it's okay. We--" my mom started

" I believe I know who did this" I didn't realise Rhiannon was at the door

She walked in and helped the nurse up and dismissed both of them. She looked at us.

" My dad did this...he warned me. I am so sorry but I promise I will get your dad and your husband back" she said turning to me and then to my mom

She looked down waiting for us to say something.
My mom chuckled and she shot her head up. She was confused.

" why would your dad do this?" Mom asked laughing

Rhiannon stared at her blankly.

" mom...that's enough"

She kept laughing. She fell to the floor after that.

" nurse! Doctor!" I called out while holding her in my arms

They rushed in immediately and attended to her. Rhiannon stood frozen in her place. A lot was going on through my mind as I stared at her. She sat on the cold floor and covered her face with her hands as tears rolled down her face. I went over and sat beside her.

" this is all my fault"

" no, it's not. We will find him"

" let's go to my house" She said with a straight face

I stood up and Rhiannon did too. I told the nurse to watch over mom and Valia and Rhiannon and I went out to look for dad.

I drove really fast because I was angry, frustrated, stressed and most of all...scared. I was scared to lose mom, dad, Valia or even Rhiannon. A lot of emotions were running through me.

Flash back
" Please help me! I'm sore! Please don't do this" I heard Valia scream

" where are you? Please tell me where you are Valia" I cried

"Aaahhh..." She screamed as the sound of skin being whipped was heard

"Ahhhww! Please! Ah!" She kept screaming and begging

End of flashback

I shook my head and tried to forget.

" Caden...pl...please slow down" Rhiannon gulped

I quickly slowed down and she loosened up. I parked the car and walked over to her house. She followed me quickly. We both entered the house.

My dad was tied to a chair and his mouth was taped. His wound was exposed and he was unconscious. I rushed to him and untied him, checked his pulse and removed the tape. He was still breathing. I sighed heavily and Rhiannon kept looking around scared.

" hey, hey...we found him okay. Don't worry about anything else, let's leave" I said while caressing her cheek when I noticed she wanted to cry

She nodded thrice and I carried my dad on my shoulder as we left the building. We got him to the hospital and the doctors did their part.

My mom, Valia and dad were okay now. But Rhiannon...she owed me explanations. Why did she say her dad did this? Why did we find my dad in her house? Did she do this? No no it's too early to jump to conclusions.

Rhiannon was sitting outside the hospital room while we were with dad, so I went over to her and sat down. She had her elbows on her knees and her head in her palms. I leaned on the couch and sighed. We sat in silence for a while.

" Caden, I am leaving the city"

Rhiannon...noooooo...I am sorry. Please be strong. Caden will be there for you. There's no need to leave....
