A/N just going to say again that these characters don't belong to me. Shannon Messenger is the person who came up with the lovely world of Keeper of the Lost Cities. Also this doesn't take place at any really specific time. It just kind of is...

Also, sorry in advance for any grammar/spelling errors. It was pretty late when I wrote this.

Sophie POV:

Sophie's head hit the wood of her desk with a loud thump. She must have fallen asleep, again. At this pace she would never get her mound of homework done.

Sophie and Keefe were trying to do their homework together. She had known they wouldn't get much done, but she hadn't expected to have nothing completed. Looking out her window Sophie noted that it had grown dark outside, they must have been working for hours. Sophie realized that she and Keefe had been spending a lot more time together. And they kept having these little... moments. But that was ridiculous, she didn't like Keefe like that. They were just friends. Really good friends. Really really good friends. Best friends even, although she could never tell Dex that. Or Keefe for that matter; he would be positively insufferable if he got an ego boost like that.

Besides, even if she did like Keefe, which she didn't, he could never like her, could he? She was just plain old Sophie Foster, nothing unique, nothing special. Sophie's stomach turned sour with the thought. Why would I want Keefe to notice me? She decided on putting her feelings and questions in her "Deal with later box". Honestly, she had stuffed a lot of things in there over the years, and eventually, she'd have to sort it all out. Placing her focus back to the papers in front of her, she started swiping the ink of her pen back and forth, not really paying attention to what she was doing.

"You good there Foster? I'm feeling a lot of... interesting emotions wafting over here," Sophie turned her attention to where Keefe was sitting on her flower petal carpet. Keefe was laying on his side with his head propped up on his hand. The cold moonlight danced through his golden blond hair, giving it silvery highlights. A blush slowly crept up Sophie's face at the realization that she was thinking about his hair.

"I haven't even said anything and I'm already winning at my favorite game! I wonder what made Foster blush this time?" At these words, Sophie felt her face heat up even more, the color passing from light pink and all the way into tomato red.

"Shut up Keefe," though the words only came out as a mumble. Sophie then turned back to her homework and tried to finish it off. She tried to force her eyelids to stay open, but they just turned heavier against her will.

"I think that we need to take a break," Sophie heard Keefe's voice waft up from behind her. "We're clearly not getting anything done and all of the sleepy emotions you're sending me are making me tired," Sophie got up from her chair and sat next to Keefe on her carpet.

"And what do you propose we do?" Sophie asked. Against her better judgment, she was excited for whatever Keefe had in store for her.

"Well, we could talk. But, if you don't want to do that, we don't have to. We could go outside. Lay beneath the Panakes tree. Or play with the baby Alicorns, or make-" Keefe had started to ramble. It was kind of cute now that Sophie was thinking about it. His face would light up when he had an idea. A rare smile would flash across his features and it wasn't one of his trademark smirks, but a real, genuine smile. And the thought made Sophie smile back. The thought that not many other people got that smile of his and that it lit up his whole face and that maybe it was reserved just for her and-

"Um Foster? Hello! Are you good? Earth to Foster?" Keefe's hand was waving in front of her face. His own features were etched with concern. It was only then she registered she had zoned out. While staring. At Keefe. Crap. Sophie's face started to heat up at the realization to the point where she was sure she looked like a fire hydrant. Albeit a Sophie shaped fire hydrant, but still! Scrambling to cover up any suspicions of Keefe's, she tried to answer one of his questions.
