"Neil, im coming over."

As soon as max got home, his dad yelled at him about signing himself up for the camp. How he shouldn't have tried to get away from them. Max argued back saying it wasn't fair how he was always the one in the wrong, it was never his father. He always had to have the last word and max was tired of it, he was worn out. That's when his father started getting a little more physical. "If you aren't in that basement by the count of 3, i will fucking kill you." He threatened. Max sighed and walked away into his room. He slammed the door and locked the 4 locks on his door. Only a few seconds later his father pounded on the door. "Max open the fucking door!" He shouted. Max's sister Lexi was watching the whole thing. "Lex, go get your bag." He said to her. "Right now?" "Yes right now!"

Lexi grabbed her already packed bag and grabbed Max's aswell. Max grabbed his phone and took his bag from Lexi. Lexi reached under her bed and grabbed an already prepped rope to escape the house. Lexi wrapped it around a metal rod in their room and started slowly climbing down, after she was on the ground max went next.

As soon as max hit the ground they darted for the forest next to their house. After a few minutes of walking max finally decided to make a plan for where they were supposed to go. "We could go to the camp but the counselors leave during the winter and we'd probably starve before they come back to restock the food, only person we have left is Neil." He said. Lexi looked down, Max could tell something was wrong. "What's up?" He asked. "I was thinking I could go to Alex's house instead..you can go to your friend and I'll go to mine?" She asked, max hesitated but nodded in response. He handed her an old phone with a blue case on it. "My number is already in there, along with Spotify, a registered number so I can text you back, everything you need." He said, he then handed her a purple headset. "I'm gonna text Neil, he used to tutor Alex so I'm pretty sure he can give you the address."

"Why is there a heart next to his name?" Lexi said teasingly. "Alex and Neil live in the same neighborhood, we'll be together most of the walk." Max completely discarded what she said. Lexi rolled her eyes at him and they started walking.

"He seemed pretty disappointed when you said you weren't staying over." Lexi started again. Max thought about that for a bit before responding. Was he disappointed? Did he want me to stay? "He'll have to stay disappointed, I'm planning to text Sam and see if he'll let me stay over, he's the only nice one out of the family." Max did want to stay over at Neil's, but he felt like it would be too weird since he doesn't know Neil's family that well.
