"Looks like someone has a little secret valentine on their hands," Trinity teased while I stood confused. I was in disbelief. Here I held a note with probably the cheesiest nursery rhyme ever written. I couldn't deny how it was the sweetest thing I had gotten. What ended up being the first of many I would receive anonymously.

"It doesn't have a name," I murmured. Despite my pitiful detective skills for one's penmanship, I failed. Trinity harassed me into sharing who this mysterious person was; however, I was just as baffled as she was.

I felt a warm sensation flush my cheeks, my stomach bubbled with nerves, and my palms began to sweat. I felt weird. It was out of the norm; no one had ever shown a kind gesture toward me. Not even when it was "mandated" in elementary school to avoid others who felt excluded. Of course, this would have been outside my friends made sure I was appreciated. There was a moment of flattery mixed with excitement as I blushed uncontrollably, but that was before my feelings changed. I had doubted this note was legit and fixated on it being a cruel prank against me.

Assumably Trinity noticed my now changed expression as she reached for the note I still held. She started to hum a tune as she skimmed through the words on paper while she attempted to lift my spirits. The emotion on her face temporarily matched mine before she persuaded me to be more optimistic versus pessimistic. I didn't need to be a "Negative Nancy," I was so accustomed to downing myself to a point where I wouldn't allow myself to enjoy the moment. There was someone, somewhere, who had a crush on me -- it felt pretty damn good!

No doubt this would be a moment I'd relive in my head for quite a while.

"I wonder who did it," I paused. I folded the note and slid it into my pocket. "Who wrote the letter I mean." I clarified.

I was met with a shrug as she grunted "I don't know". Regardless of who it was, I knew I would've wanted more. Trinity and I headed to the cafeteria and per usual the boys flirtatiously whistled to get her attention. It was always funny how she would ignore guys' advances which was also weird too. She said previously how none of them ever piqued her interest. It didn't stop them from throwing themselves at her either.

Trinity was insanely gorgeous! She was dark-skinned, but she stood five feet and four inches. In my eyes, she stood taller because of her high self-esteem. The roundness of her face complimented the deep dimples imprinted on her cheeks. Her lips were heart-shaped which complimented any lip gloss she had worn. She and I were both a braceface yet she wore it better than I did.

She was a versatile type of person. She could pull off anything she wanted and look amazing each time. Whether she chose to be bold with her wardrobe or ventured off with a different hairstyle – she did it! Although her natural curl pattern was 3c and black, she opted for protective hairstyles. She was one of the girls who began to peak prematurely, but it wasn't too bad. There were times she was a bit cocky with her physique, however, she didn't grow an airhead about it either.

She was one of the prettiest girls in the school, and it wouldn't have been a shocker if she won prom queen. Even Bryan tried his hand with Trinity and failed, that was pretty hysterical. I wasn't sure why she didn't date anyone in our school so I assumed she would've dated someone outside of it. Either way, I had serious doubts about her not having a date for any of the events that were to come. And, it would've been insane for her to go with me as friends.

Trinity disappeared almost immediately once we came to the cafeteria. I later noticed her with the cheer squad, but I was greeted by Bryan who snuck behind me – scaring me. I threw a gentle punch to his shoulder as he pretended to be in pain. He laughed at my pathetic attempt to teach him a lesson as he repeatedly apologized for being an ass. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.
