Wanjiru was talking to a young man when Wangari came by.
"How are you my dear friend?"
Wanjiru said when she saw Wangari.
" My son and I are very well. Thank you."
Wangari said as she sat on the mat outside Wanjiru's hat.
" I thought I would bring you some maize today."
Wangari said.
" I am very glad to see that the shamba is doing well and that Kahuria is growing up healthy."
Wanjiru said.
Wangari thought on telling her about her business with the elders but thought it best to leave it be.
At least until a decision had been made.
" I have not seen Owino of late, has he not yet come back from the hunt?"
Wanjiru asked.
Wangari had not thought of Owino as much.
" I don't think so, he has not come by my hut yet."
Wangari replied.
" Well, i know that your husband is missing and you love him very much but have you ever perhaps considered marrying again?"
Wangari was shocked by that question.
"Of course not, how could you even say such a thing?
Kahuria has not been gone for so long, how could i even think of such a thing.
i know Kahuria( her husband) will be coming back home."
Wangari said almost angrily.
" Okay, I am sorry to say that but you have to consider that. If your husband does not come home, you have to at least remarry if not for you then for your son. He will need a father."
Wanjiru said.
Wangari thought on that as she walked back home the noon sun burning hot on her forehead.
She had never considered or even thought of loving again , let alone getting another husband.
'My son only needs me. I can raise him up okay. he will have his uncles and elders to guide him and besides i know my husband will come home to me.'
she thought though deep in her heart she feared that her friend might have been right.
She worked all evening on her shamba tending to her son from time to time.
The moon was full that night and she and Kahuria sat on a mat looking at it.
and as she did for a minute she could almost feel Kahuria's( husband) presence.
As if he were seated right next to her.
