I sat up with a yawn as Trudy once again shook me awake.

I really needed to get my schedule together, it's barely been a couple days and I've already been almost late to everything.

Two nights ago Grace went to the people in charge of this entire place and came back empty handed. Turns out they didn't give two shits about who was who.

After that she took us out for the first time. It was a new feeling. The Avatar body was so different, my senses were stronger and my body felt stronger as well. The Na'vi race was shaped so differently than humans.

They had longer necks, wider shoulders, long prehensile tails, bigger eyes, a flat 'snout' of sorts, canines and ears that were farther up on the head and came out like a cats. They were so cat like it was interesting.

With a happy look on my face I got dressed and went to look for Jake and Mallory. Unfortunately I ran into Norm instead.

"Good morning Sequoia," he mumbled rubbing his face, giving me a bored look.

"Mornin' Normy, sleep well?" I asked using the nickname that he hates so much. He grunted and turned away from me leaving me there.

I practically skipped into the eating area getting odd stares from people as I sat next to Grace. Something about today felt good and I didn't feel like mopping around.

To my surprise Grace had a smile on her face when I looked at her, she seemed generally happy for the first time since I had arrived here.

"You, Jake and Mallory are going out tomorrow, coming with me to get some samples from the plant life," she explained watching me as I ate the sausage on my plate.

I was a bit in shock, we'd only gone out a few times and that had been a near disaster. Jake had gotten real excited and ran out causing a ruckus. Max, the one curly haired guy, had nearly lost his shit when that happened.

Nonetheless we were going out and I was excited.

"Hang on, were landing!" Trudy shouted into her mic so we could hear  her over the loud noise of the Samson.

I gripped tightly to Mallory's arm, I needed something sturdy and she was sturdy.

We landed with a soft thud and everyone hurriedly got out and into the small clearing we were in.

I grabbed my bag and journal and hopped out looking at everything I possibly could. Back home on Earth I had never seen this much plant life. The ecosystem started dying out way before I was born so having something like a tree or some grass was a real treasure.

I bent down to touch the grass and I felt a giddy feeling bubble up in my stomach. I knew I looked like an idiot but I didn't care. I leaned down smelling the dirt, a smile broke out onto my face.

Grace started moving into the jungle and everyone hurried to catch up. I waved goodbye to Trudy and ran after Jake's tail.

"This looks good," Grace said setting down her equipment. We'd been walking for a solid hour and we were in the absolute middle of nowhere.

I had been touching and smelling everything. Grace had to swat at me a few times as I tried touching a lot of the deadly plants.

There was so much to take in, the sounds, the smells and the sights. Everywhere you looked was life, whether it was a plant or an animal.
