Chapter nine: The Secret is Out

Phoebe watched with wide eyes as Steve stepped out onto the fog-covered grass with his bat raised. The only noises were the gargling of the creatures and the leaves crunching below Steve's feet.

Steve started whistling to try and get the baby Demogorgon's attention and lure it out, "Come on, buddy."

Steps were heard coming down the ladder, but Phoebe's eyes were frozen on Steve. She was gripping her arms, ready to get Steve out of there if anything goes south. "What's he doing?" Max ran up next to Pheobe, looking out the window.

"Expanding the menu." Dustin answers.

"Come on, buddy. Come on, buddy. Come on.
Dinner time." Steve spoke as he was finally in the center of the junkyard, in front of the pile of rotting meat. "Human tastes better than cat, I promise."

"He's insane." Max states.

"He's awesome." Dustin chuckles.

"He's an idiot" Phoebe whisper-yells, stressed and worried about Steve.

Max looked over at Phoebe with a worried look. She watched Phoebe's expression turn from one of worry to one of fear quickly. Phoebe spotted the Demogorgon, and her eyes widened. It was the size of a dog and could've even been mistaken as one. Phoebe quickly reacted and teleported behind Steve.

Phoebe quickly teleports Steve into the bus before going back out. Steve had no time to think or even stop Phoebe from doing something that could get her killed.

Steve was mad that Phoebe didn't listen while the others were proud of her, except Max, who on another hand was confused.

"Phoebe! Watch out!" Lucas yells. "Three o'clock! Three o'clock!" Lucas screeched. Phoebe looked in the direction Lucas yelled and her eyes widened as another creature identical to the other hopped onto a rusted car and growled at her.

Phoebe closed her eyes and took a deep breath, taping into a memory that made her happy, to summon her powers. You are special Phoebe, just remember that love is powerful enough to save someone you care for. My daughter will always be filled with love...

She reopened her eyes to see she was floating off the ground blue energy flowing around her. A loud growl was heard, making her snap her head back toward the creature. It started running towards her, and without lifting a finger she made it stop before it even jumped at her.

Another one came at her, but she managed to throw it across the field. Screams were heard all around the bus from the kids and Steve.

She was busy holding the Demogorgon that are attacking her that she didn't notice others were trying to get on the bus.

A Demogorgon slammed into the side of the bus making all four of them scream. The bus rocked due to the impact. The screeching of a Demogorgon echoed around the bus as a hand made its way through the cracks in the doors. More screams were heard as the kids made their way toward the back of the bus while Steve used his bat to hurt the Demogorgon.

Dustin grabbed his supercomm from his bag, and pressed the talk button before yelling, "Is anyone there? Mike? Will? God! Anyone!" Claws penetrated the metal of the bus right next to the group. They all screamed and moved away, closer to the windows.

One of the Demogorgon pokes its head into the opening and roars. Upon hearing Max scream, Phoebe turned around to find a Demogorgon on top of the bus "Max!" Phoebe quickly teleported and grabbed her arm.

Blue energy formed around her hand and closing her eyes merely hearing silence. She reopens them again to see a force field being put up around the bus, protecting them from any other Demogorgon.
