The next week had been dreary. I briefly returned home, a pause from the constant travelling which had recently consumed my life, but it didn't really feel like home. It was so quiet, and empty. Will was away in Italy at the Alpha Tauri centre, so that didn't help things either. Luckily, Australia rolled around in the blink of an eye, and that was where I found myself now."God it's so hot!" I complain to a poor Alpha Tauri employee who had been tasked with keeping me entertained this Saturday. He was nice, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't help but feel as though I intimidated him; his little moustache twitching whenever I spoke, his hands nervously fiddling.
I hadn't seen Lando since I'd arrived, and for that I was more than glad. Our previous run in had been extremely embarrassing and uncomfortable, and I wished to avoid him at all costs, particularly on account of how much I disliked the boy. And why shouldn't I? He'd given me no reason not too.
I'd also managed to avoid Charles, which I was more than happy about, considering our relations at the moment.
"Anastasia, I believe Luke wants to speak with you." The employee looks relieved to be rid of me, his chest rising and falling heavily as he delivers his line. I smile curtly, getting up and walking over to my brothers PR manager who sits across the room.
"Anastasia hello. I'll get to the point, I need two things from you: a YouTube video with Pierre & Will, and a date with Lando. Easy." Luke smiles, and it's so fake that I almost scowl, but know better than to do so.
"YouTube?" I sigh, though will admit I'm curious.
"Yeah. It's simple, really. It's a "who knows who best", you versus Pierre in a game of who knows Will best. We figured since you're here..." Luke trails off, but I get the message. The game sounds quite fun, if anything.
"And the date?" I roll my eyes, failing to hide my emotions this time.
"You and Lando, tonight. Arcade. He'll meet you there at 7." Luke doesn't waste time in explaining what he wants from me.
After we finish our conversation, I walk to where Will and Pierre are, ready to film our YouTube video. I sit on Will's left, Pierre to his right, and we have a short, polite conversation until the camera starts rolling.
The girl leading the video introduces us all, explaining the brief. Then, the game begins, Pierre and I both poised over our buzzers.
„When is Will's birthday?"
„August fifth!" I screech, not even giving Pierre a moment to think.
"What inspired Will to begin racing?"
"Micheal Schumacher!" Pierre gets there first, though in my mind I'm somewhat grateful, for my answer was far darker: our father forced him too. Will had never been the brightest of children, and my father recognised that very quickly. But, he was hell bent on making sure that my brother, Henry's, bright motor racing future did not die with him, and so he forced Will to continue it. Luckily, Will fell in love with it, so I guess it worked out in the end.
"What is Will's favourite race track?"
"Interlagos!" I shout, whilst Pierre opts for Silverstone, and I quickly realise that he might just be right.
"It's actually Singapore." Will shrugs, and I turn to him confused, raising an eyebrow.
"Since when?" I probe him.
"It's a cool race and a cool place. Good circuit." Will shrugs, and we swiftly move on.
"Who is Will's best friend?"
