I got woken up by Billy shaking me non-stop. "Billy, what's wrong?" I said to him as I sat up. He then started to sign what he was saying. "There is a little kid at the bars over there." I look over to where he was pointing and saw there was a little kid. I got out of bed and went up to the bars. "Hi, little one what's your name?" I asked the little boy. I sat on the ground so we were at the same eye level because he was sitting on the ground. I watched as he turned around to face me. His hair was red with a hint of orange in it. One of his eyes was a pretty light blue and the other eye was even lighter, you could tell he was blind in that eye. He was wearing jean shorts with no shoes. He had on a purple shirt that had a yellow star on it. He had socks on that looked like they had cat ears on them. he was wearing red glass. Around his neck was a pearl neckless. He had scars on his face. I stop studying him and had to ask him again what his name was. "M-my name?" he said in a scared voice. "I would like to know it. Mine is Milly and my brother's name is Billy" I told him hoping he would be a little less scared. "My name is Rome" "And how old are you Rome?" I said to him as I looked into his eyes. "I am 10 years old," He said to me as he started to look around. "Rome do you know where we are?" I asked hoping he would know. "N-no I don't I just woke up right here." He while trying to stand up. Before I could say anything to him, I saw Xander walk up to Rome. "Hey, Billy and Milly. I see you have met Rome. He will be staying in y all are rooms for a while. We will bring another bed in there for him soon." He said as he opened the door to let Rome in here with us. "Come here Rome please," I said as Xander opened the door. Rome runs into my arms. "Milly please tell Rome the rules, we don't want anything to happen to him because he didn't know them." He said to me as he looked me in the eyes. "Of course, I'll make sure he knows them," I told him. then he walked away and yelled saying he will bring the food in an hour or two.
Two hours later
"Milly wake up!" I hear someone saying but when I opened my eyes I could not see at all. "I can't see at all. Can I please know who's talking to me?" I asked hoping they would tell me. "It's Xander, and I don't know why you can't see." He told me. "Oh if I can't see after waking up it's a sign that I have been sleeping for too long. My mother took me to see if that could be fixed but no one could help me." I said to him. "Well, you may need to stop sleeping so much. I'll have to find some books for you to read. Oh, I brought y'alls food. The other two are over there in the corner eating." He told me as he pointed at both the boys. "I'll go over there and eat in a little when I can see again, okay?" I said to him. "Okay please try to eat soon because Abby is coming here later," He told me. I was starting to be able to see again and when I saw his face I could see he was scared. "Okay sir" I got up and walked over to Rome and Billy. I sat down in betweening them and grabbed my food. I could hear Xander leaving the room because he shut the door a little too loud. I started looking around after he left and noticed they added another bed and some toys to the room. There was also stuff to draw with. That one looked helpful for Billy. He likes to draw it's one of his ways of talking with people. It is fun to watch people try and guess what he was saying. It took about 20-30 minutes and Addy came. She was holding some books and had someone beside her. It was a little girl. Her hair was blond and the ends are dark blue. Her hair was half up in buns and the other half was down. Her eyes were gray. She had some orange headphones on her head. She was wearing a light blue jumpsuit with a white shirt under it. Her shoes are light purple and orange. "This is Mia. She will be joining us today" Addy told me and the boys. She gave the books to Mia and then she opened the door and Mia walked in. "All of you come over here and sit down in front of me," She told us as she grabbed one of the chairs from the hall. "Ma'am?" "Yes, Milly?" "May I please know what we are going to do?" I asked Addy. "Well, I have to teach yall, or I will not get paid to keep yall here. Know no more talking" She grabbed some paper and gave all of us some. She gave us school work. The worst part is the stuff she gave me and Billy we had no learned in school yet which means that the other two little kids have not learned it yet either. For the past six months she would come in here every day with Mia and we would end up having new work to do every day. We would end up doing the same work some days because not all of us got it done or didn't understand it. Addy would end up yelling at us sometimes because we did not understand the stuff as she wanted us to. It was like she would forget we were kids. She made us clean upstairs then gave up a stack of paperwork on top of that. It was not good when she did that because Billy gets tired easily. So he would end up falling asleep while trying to get the work done. I would keep watch for him and let him sleep but when I heard her close I would wake him up. It was easy to tell who was walking down the hall. Abby always wears heels while Xander wears shoes that don't click on the ground. This went on for about four years. By then we didn't see Mia anymore and Rome was in the room next to us. I could hear Rome yell a lot. Xander would be kind enough to let me out to check on Rome and something Rome would be allowed to come and stay in my room for a couple of days. There would be times when you could hear Abby yelling at Xander because he won't listen to her and she would tell him to hit us. When she couldn't get him to she would make him watch as she did it herself. By the fifth year of being there, I and Billy hated Abby, and she would make sure we could not see or talk to Rome.
