It had been a few hours since you started your shift. It was pretty packed, which annoyed the absolute shit out of Kevin. He was and still isn't used to so many people coming in around Halloween. You stifled a laugh as the male grimaced at the two kids as they entered the small shop. They quickly ran to the counter, nagging and pestering Kevin to give them free candy.

"For the last time, I am not giving you guys free candy! It's not even Halloween yet!" The boy seethed, narrowing his eyes.

The two small boys looked at each other before going back to begging. You could see a vein pop on Kevin's face.

You shook your head, amused by the current situation. You tapped Kevin's shoulder, and he snapped his head in your direction. You gave him the look, 'let me handle this' and he immediately understood and stepped back. You took Kevin's place and glanced at the children, taking note of their pleading looks. You smiled.

"Listen, Kids." You started, catching their attention. "What if we made a deal?" You finished. The boys looked intrigued.

Your smile widened as you spoke. "If you two come back on Halloween, we'll give you two boxes full of candy." The kids' eyes shined with excitement at your offer.

"But," You interrupted before they could say anything. "You have to stop pestering us. Deal?" You offered, waiting patiently for the children to respond.

As soon as you finished your sentence, the two boys nodded rapidly, giddily hopping out of the store. You turned to look at Kevin, who had a baffled look adorning his face.

"How did you do that?!" The male asked, a shocked tone lacing his voice. You giggled quietly before responding.

"Bribery, Kev." You answered, nudging the black-haired boy. He scoffed and crossed his arms.

While Kevin wallowed in thoughts, you turned to face the entrance to the candy store, noticing the pastel orange sky. Realizing this, you fished for your phone from your back pocket and pressed the power button. '5:46 pm'. Your shift ended sixteen minutes ago. You glanced at Kevin, who was now staring at you in confusion.

"What's the matter?" He asked, quickly looking at your phone and then back at you.

You exhaled deeply before speaking. "It's nothing. My shift just ended." You replied sorrowfully. Kevin mimicked your sad look. "Damn. 'Guess I'll see you tomorrow, then?" Rubbing his neck, you could hear the dejection in his voice as he spoke. You hated it when you had to leave Kevin alone because there was a cannibalistic murderer on the loose.

You knew this because of the newspapers. 'Bob Velseb, the cannibal serial killer escaped from the local jail with two other thieves.' That sentence stuck to your mind like glue. It was also the reason why you worried for Kevin since he worked the night shifts.

"Uh... Yea." You muttered, looking down at the tiled floor. Kevin immediately knew and placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder.

"Y/N, I'll be fine. You don't have to worry." The male said, squeezing your shoulder.

You glanced up at the male. "I know, I know. Just... keep a lookout, okay?" You shrugged off his hand, feeling even more fearful than you were before.

Both of you stared at each other before you broke the silence. "I'm going home. Cya Kev." You spoke bluntly, turning on your heel and leaving the candy store. You couldn't bear to look at him any longer.

You pushed open the glass door, being greeted by the cold atmosphere. You weren't comforted by the breeze anymore. If anything, you were afraid of it now. Your mind swirled with negative thoughts as you walked. What would that psychopath do if he found Kevin? Bite his head clean off? You shuddered at the thought. You were so caught up in your thoughts that you didn't realize the person in front of you. Bumping into the person, you staggered back a bit before falling. You shut your eyes tightly, bracing for the pain. To your surprise, you didn't hit the hard concrete. You opened one of your eyes, not expecting to see another pair staring back at you.

You tensed. It was the same man from a few days ago. The red horns, the crazed grin, you knew it all too well.

You attempted to pry the devil's hands from your waist, but his grip tightened as you struggled. You winced, his sharp nails digging into the fabric of your shirt.

Narrowing your eyes, you spoke. "Let me go." You spat. Surprisingly, he listened.

You stumbled back, regaining your balance. Standing straighter and crossing your arms, you glare at the demon, whose grin never faltered.

"Where are ya headed?" His low and breathy voice caused you to flinch. He noticed, and his grin widened.

You blinked a few times before speaking. "Home," you stated, stepping back to gain some distance between the two of you. Why was he asking you this?

"Good." That was all he said. You stared at the devil in confusion.

Before you could say anything else, you heard rustling next to you, which caused you to snap your head in that direction. When you saw that it was nothing, you turned your head back to face the red devil, who had mysteriously disappeared. Your heart sank. Where had he gone? Why did he ask that odd question? You started to jog toward your abode in fear of seeing him again.

You shrugged off the whole situation. The demon wasn't going to show up at your house, was he? You were sure he wouldn't...
