An hour had passed since Lila's party started, and boy, were there a lot of people here. You didn't expect the young woman to have so many friends. Well, she was a pretty extroverted person, so you weren't all that surprised. You, on the other hand, were the exact opposite. You didn't even know how Lila could be confident in talking with strangers, and just people in general. You shrugged your shoulders- thinking about it wouldn't change anything. You were currently sitting on Lila's bed, door locked and away from all the loud music and drunk people. Thankfully, you had brought a pair of headphones just in case something like this happened. Good thing you did. You slid them over your ears and fiddled with your phone, tapping on a music app you had and putting on your favorite song.
You set the device aside as you sunk into the deep lavender sheets. Maybe you could take a nap until everyone left... you did work an eight-hour shift today, after all. So you kicked off your shoes and snuggled into the thick blankets, breathing in the pleasant smell of what you assumed were peonies. Hopefully you wouldn't have a bone-chilling nightmare like last night. Eventually, you closed your eyes, the comforting scent lulling you to sleep.

Your eyes fluttered open as you felt a soft yet forceful hand shake you awake, causing you to let out a subtle groan. Stretching out your limbs and sitting up, you shifted your head to get a better look at the person, surprised to see Ben sitting on the edge of the bed, hand clasped on your shoulder. He let go as soon as you saw him.
He angled himself so that the male was now facing you, a generous smile gracing his features. "I was wonderin' when you'd wake up." He spoke, his voice breathy and low.
You started at Ben for a moment before speaking. "How did you even... know I was in here?" You yawned, stretching again before slipping off your headphones. You were also pretty sure you locked the door before you had fallen asleep. You glanced at the door that should've been latched shut, noticing nothing out of the ordinary with the door. How would he even...
"The door was locked, so I was curious if someone was in here," Ben replied, edging closer to you. "And I, uh... was also worried where ya were." The male mumbled while anxiously rubbing his neck. Your face warmed at his response. Ben was... worried about you? Why would he be? You two had just met.
You kept quiet as you avoided eye contact with the man, shifting into a position where your body was facing away from Ben. "That... doesn't explain how you got into the bedroom." You replied in suspicion, sending an unconvinced look at the male. What would he even use to get in? A lock pick? Why would he even have that on him?
The large man let out a throaty chuckle which caused you to tense slightly. "Ya don't need to worry about it, Hun." He reassured, taking his hand and gently ruffling your hair. You sat there, bewildered at his sudden gesture. Why was Ben playing this off like it was nothing? He practically broke into the room without your consent. And while you were sleeping, as well. And not to mention that he just called you 'Hun', which you were pretty sure friends didn't call each other that. Or maybe they did... whatever. It didn't matter in your current situation.
"Uh... okay." Was all you mustered out, grabbing a pillow and hugging it between your body. You found it the most comforting thing in the present moment. The two of you stared at each other in awkwardness as your eyes looked the male up and down, and you could tell he was nervous. Ben broke away from your curious looks and peered at the floor, taking in all the small details of the floorboards. You couldn't help but get a sense of deja vu, as if this had happened before. Shrugging it off, you decided it was probably nothing.
