Lila motioned you inside, closing the door as you stood in her lively home. You inhaled and exhaled, drowsiness finally starting to set in as you blindly dragged your feet across the ground and over to a comfortable-looking chair. Lila looked over at you in worry as she went over to you, a warm cup of what seemed to be apple cider in her hands.
She handed the cup to you, and you grasped the mug tightly, the warmth comforting you. Looking up at her, you gave her a thankful smile. She smiled back as she went to sit in the chair across from you. Slumping into your chair, you sighed. Lila was most likely anticipating your explanation.
"Well, uh..." You mumbled, looking down at your cup and fiddling with the handle. How were you supposed to explain to her how you almost died?
Before you could say anything, Lila stood up and spoke. "I'll give you some time to think about it. I'm going to get a first aid kit for your cuts." She explained, disappearing into what you assumed was the bathroom.
At least she was giving you some time to reflect on the situation. The infamous Red Devil broke into your house. Thinking back on it, he was most likely that crazed psychopath that broke out of jail. How did you just now realize this? Setting the mug down on the coffee table, you covered your face with your hands and ran your fingers through your hair.
A cannibal literally tried to kill you. How were you even able to defend yourself against such a big man? You didn't know, neither did you want to know how you even got the courage to do such things. Maybe it was the adrenaline? Whatever, it didn't matter now.
You then remember when you had aggravated him so terribly. 'You're going to regret that.' That sentence shook you to your core. What was he planning on doing if he found you again? As he said, you couldn't hide forever. There were only so many places you could hide in the town.
You snapped out of your thoughts as you heard Lila entering the room. She walked over to you, placed the first aid on the coffee table, opened the small box, and took out some rubbing alcohol and large band-aids.
"Would you like me to do it?" She asked, and you nodded your head. You were too exhausted to do anything right now.
So, with that, she poured the rubbing alcohol onto a white cloth and raised it to your facial wounds. She lightly dabbed your chin cut, which caused you to seethe.
"Sorry!" She squeaked, pulling the cloth back.
Shaking your head, you spoke. "It's alright." You muttered.
She hesitated but went back to work on your wounds. You were clenching your jaw throughout the whole process. Who knew cuts could hurt so bad?
Once she finished cleaning your cuts, she gently placed the bandaids on the exposed flesh, stepping back and smiling. "There, much better!" She exclaimed, clearly happy with her work.
You chuckled at her excitement. "Thank you, Lila." Her contagious joy made you smile.
"So, are you... ready to talk now?" She questioned. You inhaled again. Right. You almost forgot that.
"Yeah... I guess." You breathed out. Lila nodded, going back over to her chair and sitting down.
You told her everything, from when the backdoor was open to the devil almost stabbing your eye out. You knew she had her fair share of scares with the cannibal, she's told you. But this seemed to scare her even more compared to her experience.
Suddenly, your conversation was interrupted by a young voice. "Mum! Mum!" A little boy called, and Lila sighed. You almost forgot she had a son.
"Give me a moment. I won't be long." She told you, standing up from her seat and disappearing again.
