Imagine going on a late night date with Gilbert

(Y/n) and Gilbert had been friends since forever. They had both been born and raised in the small town of Endora and had spent 25 long years together. They had always been close and have often been confused for a couple. It was to no one’s surprise when the pair made it official and started dating, becoming an actual couple.

The pair had been planning a date but it was difficult on Gilbert’s end. He had to watch after his younger brother Arnie and couldn’t just leave him alone. He ended up agreeing to a late night date, he would be dead tired at work but it was worth it to spend much needed time with his darling (Y/n). His plan was to put Arnie to bed early and leave the second he was asleep. It was reckless but he was desperate to get away from his miserable life at home.

Oh how he loved spending time with (Y/n). The girl was the most important thing in his little world. She had stayed by his side through thick and thin. She judged him when he did wrong and tried her best to help him do right. He didn’t deserve her in his mind, but he couldn’t live without her either. It was all confusing, a good kind of confusing.

The brunette boy had just gotten his younger brother out of the bath and was now getting him to go to bed. He was starting to get a little impatient but calmed himself down with the idea of the date that waited for him and his lover.

“Come on now Arnie, it’s time for bed,” He said to his younger brother while walking to the boys bedroom.

“Nooo not yet..! I don’t want to..” Arnie groaned as he followed after Gilbert.

“Yes you do Arnie. You just had a nice bath to have extra good sleep,” Gilbert replied, trying to get him excited to get to sleep. “You’re a big boy and big boys go to bed early. You are a big boy aren’t you?”

“Yeah I am..!” The blonde boy said before hurrying to his bed.

Gilbert chuckled quietly and shook his head. He walked over to Arnie’s bed, where the boy was already lying. Then he tucked him in.

“Alright, good night Arnie,” He said and ruffled his brother’s hair.

“Good night Gilbert!” The boy called out after him.

When Gilbert walked out, he decided to stay and wait outside of the room to check when Arnie fell asleep. It was his lucky day as his brother fell asleep without problem for once. When he made sure he was sleeping, he bolted out the door and to his car. He hopped inside the tan pickup truck and turned it on as quickly as he could. With that he was out of the driveway and driving towards (Y/n)’s house. He was so excited that he couldn’t help but smile the whole way there.

Once he got to her house, she waited outside at the end of her driveway. She had on his old jacket he had given her years ago. For some reason it made him smile more. With her she carried a folded blanket, Gilbert wondered what she needed that for but guessed he’d hear soon. When (Y/n) noticed him, a smile spread onto her lips and she waved excitedly. Of course he waved back but without as much excitement. He pulled up the car in front of her. The girl opened the door and climbed in.

“Hi Gilbert!” She greeted him cheerily and gave him a quick kiss on his cheek.

“Hey (Y/n),” He greeted back.

The boy started driving again, not really sure of where to go yet. It didn’t take long for the pair to talk about their days at first and then about nothing in particular. Gilbert asked what the girl wanted to do for their date and she didn’t really have an answer. The pair never got to this part of the dates. They were usually left at the planning part because of Gilbert’s complex home situation. But then she got an idea. She told the boy to drive to a nearby field and that they could just lie on top of the blanket and talk the night away. Gilbert wasn’t opposed to the idea and agreed.
