Chapter 1: the beginning
Location: class“H…hello…everyone M…my name is Ella…urm…". I shifted from foot to foot not knowing what to do. The whole class was staring at me…oh crap … Feeling under a lot of pressure, tears subconsciously welled up in my eyes as I looked down at the floor. No no no...not here…not now…not in front of everyone…
It was the first time I had gone to a public school. Since I was small, I had the luxury of being homeschooled due to my medical condition. I was born with a heart defect and that caused a lot of problems. My family is financially unstable and we were rather poor due to my dad with his gambling and alcohol addiction (THANKS ALOT, DAD!). My mom now had to work full time to support the family. I was forced to go to Public school as a result. Fortunately, the city gave free education to support those with financial issues.
I looked from left to right. My new classmates were looking at each other, confused.”I’m sorry!” I whispered before running out of the class, crashing into a wall on the way out, and making my way to the bathroom. I heard the teacher calling out my name but I ignored her and ran as fast as my heart allowed me to, before collapsing on the floor, my legs the shape of an ‘m’, I gasped for air. My heart was beating at an alarming rate. I was worried if I had to visit the hospital again.
“Ella… are you alright?” The teacher asked frantically, catching up with me.
I could not respond. My heart continued palpitating intensely. I could even hear it resonating in my own ears.“H...help...me...”
