So this is inspired by the fact that I am currently sitting on the couch sick with the flu. It's horrible. I feel almost worse than I did when I had covid. I swear everyone in Ontario is sick or was sick. This is literally the second time since school started that I've been sick. Anyway, hope you enjoy!!!

Louis cleared his throat for what felt like the hundredth time that day. His throat had been sore on and off for a few days, but it hadn't turned into anything, so he just passed it off as the house was dry.

Today, however, his sore throat had gotten worse. He was in the middle of a writing session and he could barely focus anymore because the pain was getting worse. He was just glad he wasn't recording because he didn't think his voice could handle it. He could barely handle the little singing he'd had to do anyway.

"What if we took this line and put it in at the end instead?" Someone suggested.

Louis had no idea what he was even talking about, but he nodded in agreement. He figured if it was bad they could change it another time.

"Louis, what do you think?" Steve asked.

Louis turned to look at him, "Sorry, mate, zoned out a bit there," He chuckled. "I think it's great."

Steve frowned and gave him a strange look, but went back to the page he was writing on.

Louis wasn't too focused on the writing session anymore, he was more focused on the fact that he was starting to get a headache.

"Louis, are you alright?" Ellen asked.

Louis sighed and ran a hand over his face. "Y'know, I'm actually not feeling too great right now, to be honest."

He got a few sympathetic looks from his writing team.

"We can work on this stuff another day, Louis. You look like you need to lay down," Steve said.

Louis nodded. "You're right mate. Let's meet another time, I really do need to sleep or something."

Ellen smiled at him. "Just let us know when you're feeling better and we can meet again."

"Sounds good." Louis nodded.

He said goodbye to his team and walked out to his car. When he got in, he just rested his head on the steering wheel for a minute. He felt bad because he felt like he had wasted everyone's time, but he also felt bad because he was sick.

He sighed and started his drive home, feeling pretty eager to just lay in bed the rest of the day.

When he got home, Harry wasn't there. Louis figured he wouldn't be because he was supposed to be at a meeting with his own management today, but he couldn't help but be a little disappointed.

Louis walked upstairs and into the bedroom. He immediately went to the closet and changed out of his jeans and into some much comfier clothes. After that, he went right to bed, flopping down on top of the blankets and closing his eyes. He knew he should probably get some medicine, but he couldn't be bothered. He just wanted to sleep, and sleep he did.

When Harry got home from his meeting later that day, he was a little surprised to see Louis' car in the garage. He just guessed his writing session didn't last very long. He was glad he could go see his boyfriend right away, though.

Harry kicked off his shoes and went to the living room, expecting to see Louis on the couch watching the television or playing a video game, but he wasn't there.

"Lou?" Harry called out. He didn't get an answer, so he figured he was upstairs.

When Harry got up to their bedroom, the door was closed, but he didn't hear anyone inside. He knocked gently and pushed it open to find Louis sound asleep in the middle of the bed.

He laughed softly and walked over to the bed. He ran a hand through Louis' hair and he didn't even stir. He must be exhausted Harry thought. As he ran his hand through Louis' hair one more time, he noticed how warm Louis felt. Harry frowned and placed the back of his hand on Louis' forehead again, he definitely had a fever.

Harry shook Louis' shoulder gently. "Lou, can you wake up for me please, honey?"

Louis didn't move. He was out cold.

Harry just tried again, "C'mon, Lou. We need to get you some medicine."

This time, Louis groaned softly and opened his eyes.

"Haz?" He mumbled.

"Hey, baby," Harry said softly. "Are you not feeling too well?"

Louis shook his head. "I came home from writing early because me throat's been bugging me," he said. "Fell asleep as soon as I got home."

"Aww, babe I'm sorry you're sick," Harry cooed. "I think you've got a fever though, so I'm going to get you some medicine, alright?"

Louis closed his eyes again and nodded. He was exhausted, he felt so achy and he had horrible chills despite having a fever. He just wanted to sleep for days.

Soon enough, Harry came back into the room with a thermometer, a glass of water, and a few bottles of medicine.

"I brought up some different things you can try, love. But first, I want to check your temperature," Harry told him. He helped Louis sit up against the pillows and  stuck the thermometer in his ear, waiting for it to beep.

He pulled it away and looked at it. "Hmm, 38 degrees. It's a fever, but not too bad."

"I'm freezing, baby," Louis groaned.

"Why don't we get you in a t-shirt or something. If you get under the blankets in a hoodie and sweats it might make the fever worse."

Louis agreed, but he also wasn't looking forward to the idea of a t-shirt. His whole body was so cold.

Harry gave him a fever reducer and the glass of water before he went to the closet to get Louis a shirt.

Once the pill was taken and Louis was under the blankets (now in just a t-shirt, Harry had him take his trousers off as well), the two men were cuddling.

"I'm sorry you're ill, my love," Harry said into the top of Louis' head.

"S'not your fault," Louis replied.

"I know, but being sick is never fun."

"Nope, it's not." Louis smiled a little. "I think it's just a flu bug, though. I'll live."

"You better," Harry teased.

Louis just chuckled softly and turned over so he was curled right into Harry's side.

Harry hugged him tighter. "You know, being this close together is definitely not going to help your fever go down."

He felt Louis shrug. "Yeah but being close to you is making me feel better already."

//////

ahhh that cheesy ending is making me cringe a little but who cares, it's adorable.

Also, sorry I haven't written anything pretty much anywhere in forever, I've just had zero time. I'm slowly working on some new chapters for my other books, but I honestly couldn't tell you when you're going to see anything new from me. The reason I wrote this one is that I'm seriously convinced I'm dying from this stupid flu (or plague, I honestly don't know) and it makes it easy when you write from real life lmao.

Hope everyone else is doing better than me today and you all enjoyed this short-ish chapter!!!

My birthday is on Friday too omg it came so fast this year!!! I think I've also officially been on wattpad for like two years or something so yay!
