Past Bleeds Into Future

It had been a hell of a night for Tristan, but being with Rory had definitely turned it around. He looked at her as she slept on his shoulder in the back of the limo. They were on their way back to Stars Hollow. If he could have had his way, he would have chosen to keep her with him in the penthouse all night, but he knew her mom would have never been okay with that. Not that she would have been on board about what had transpired between them in the penthouse either, but that was his and Rory's business and no one else's.

Nothing could mar in his mind what their first time together had been like. Although it wasn't Tristan's first time, it was the first time he'd ever felt like that. His love for Rory had connected them in a surreal way, and he was still reeling from how deeply he felt toward her. He promised himself that he'd do everything he could to keep her happy and protect what they were building... because he couldn't lose her. She was too much a part of him now.

As the limo pulled up to Rory's house, Tristan lightly shook her to wake her up.

"Babe. We're here," Tristan said, planting a kiss on her temple.

"Rory yawned a little as her eyes opened. "I was having the best dream," She said, looking into Tristan's eyes now. He held her gaze and smiled.

"You can tell me about it another time. Right now, we need to get you inside before you blow your curfew," Tristan reminded her.

"I wish we could have stayed overnight," she said wistfully.

"Me too... but baby steps. Your mom still isn't my biggest fan," Tristan told her.

And he was right. Even though he'd been expunged of any guilt for the night of their house party by Lorelai, she still had her eyes on him at all times.

He wondered now if she'd be able to tell that things had progressed with him and Rory. They'd talked in the room about the importance of her mother not knowing, and Rory had agreed with him that the less her mom knew, the better.

Tristan walked Rory to her door and then pulled her into his arms for a goodnight kiss. Even kissing her felt different to him now. After Presley, he'd given up on feelings that could take you down, but that was where he landed with Rory now. He was hooked and didn't want to let her leave him to go inside. So he began kissing her again, effectively missing her curfew.

And even though it was just by a few minutes, the door flew open, and Lorelai was standing there, hands on her hips.

"Hate to interrupt this thing you two have got going on here, but Rory has a curfew that she's just blown past."

"Sorry, mom," Rory said, looking at her mother now.

"Good night," Rory said, leaning in for one more kiss, but Lorelai stopped her short.

"Good night, Tristan. I can take it from here." Lorelai couldn't smell any alcohol on Rory's breath, and thankfully, she didn't appear to be drunk. So that was at least good.

Walking back to the Limo, Tristan's phone began to ring.

"Hello? He said, not recognizing the number that had come up on it.

When no one answered him, he tried again. "Whoever this is, speak up, or I'm hanging up." But again, he was met with not exactly silence. He could hear someone breathing,  just unwilling to communicate, so he did what he promised and hung up.

Presley sat on her bed, looking at Ander's phone. She'd just drunk-dialed Tristan like an idiot. Although she had thankfully been sober enough to know better than to use her own phone, having stolen Anders off his bedside table after she knew he was asleep.
