Friday came finally! It's all I could think about and it was finally here. Mum didn't mention the meeting at all but I could tell she was nervous because whenever we stopped at a red light her leg went up and down.
When we got to school I pretty much ignored everything. All I was waiting for was that last bell at three o'clock.
~6 hours later~
*DRRING DRRING*
"Okay class you may leave." The whole class rushed out "Don't forget next weeks homework!" Mr Mayes shouted over all the chaos.
Ruby and Jay wished me luck and I made my way to my English classroom.
"Take a seat Ari." Mr Sperling said
Mum had not yet arrived.
I cleared my throat.
"Okay.."
20 minutes had passed and mum finally arrived.
"Sorry about that there was so much traffic."
"No worries Mrs Wri-"
He looked up And stared. Mum was staring too. Was it finally happening?
"Ms. Wright." She corrected
"Sorry."
"Honest mistake." She smiled,letting her wicked dimples show
"Take a seat,please."
Mum did so.
"I've called you in because I'm worried about Ariana's work."
"Right.." Mum nodded
"She seems....distracted." He finally said "If you don't mind me asking, is everything at home okay?"
"Yes it's all fine." Mum said quite defensively
"Mum..."
"No it's okay." She said "It's just quite hard being a single mother bringing up a child. Ari's father left when she was young."
"Not remarried? I'd expect it of a woman such as yourself."
His eyes sparkled in a wierd way.
Mum blushed.
