BEEEEEEEEEP!
The bell rings just as Clara makes it into her language arts class. Mrs.
Grosse put on her usually, serious look of disappointment. At the front of the room stands a new girl.
"Class we have a new student." Mrs. Grosse grumbled, "Tell the class your name."
"My name is Janice Auburn. I just moved here from-"
"Did i ask where you came from?" Mrs. Grosse interrupted.
Janice looked at the floor."No, Mrs. Grosse. I apologize."
"Go sit down. Now." said Mrs Grosse sternly.
Janice walked to an empty seat in the back, sat down, and had a look of disappointment on her face. She had already gotten yelled at on her first day of school. Mrs. Grosse already doesn't like her. As a matter of fact, Mrs. Grosse doesn't like anybody. Janice looked over at Clara, the only other student in the back row and whispers, "Is she always this mean?"
"Yea," Clara whispered back, "she hates kids."
That made Janice feel slightly better. At least she doesn't just hate me, Janice thought.
"So, what's your name?" Janice asks Clara.
"Clara Litzer"
"How long have you gone here?"
"Too long," replied Clara laughing a little.
"What, you don't like it here?" asked Janice, "It seems like a great school."
"Not the people who go here." Clara said under her breath.
"What?" asked Janice, "I couldn't hear you."
"Nothing."
Just then Mrs. Grosse looks at them and says, "Is there a problem back there. I can give a detention if you need help solving it."
They both just stare at her, neither one wanting to answer.
"A detention it is." spat Mrs. Grosse handing them each a detention slip, "You'll stay after tomorrow until 5 o'clock. Don't be late."
