Thursday night they gathered the weapons: a shovel, a hoe, cat litter, scissors, rope, a bucket, knives, and two blankets. They gave Clara the backpack with the shovel, a knife, some rope, a blanket and a bag of cat litter. Cameron took a backpack with a knife, a hoe, some rope, cat litter, the bucket, and a blanket. Alissa didn't take a backpack but had a knife hidden in her coat. They hoped that Nate and Janice wouldn't notice that they weren't carrying their usual backpacks when they came to their house Friday night. The whole plan would be ruined. They left the stuff at Cameron's house because that's where they were going after school the next day and went home.Friday morning Clara tried to be especially nice to Janice, This was her last day alive after all. She met her at the secret passage as usual and they walked together to their lockers. Janice seemed different today, she acted really strange like she was hiding something from her, and Clara already knew what it was.Clara knew all about Janice and Nate and she felt sick just thinking about the way Janice tricked her. She thought they were friends, that finally she would have friends again, but she was wrong. Janice was not her friend. Friends don't kiss your boyfriend and set him up with your worst enemy, Clara thought disgusted by what Janice had done to her.At lunch Clara, Janice, Cameron, and Nate all sat outside together to eat and talk about their plans after school. They decided to meet up at Janice's and that they would go to the cornfield to go on an adventure. After school Alissa, Clara, and Cameron walked back to Cameron's house to discuss the final details of the plan. They would dispose of the bodies and evidence in the river down the road, then go back to Cameron's to hangout and hope that his parents didn't realize they had left.At 6 o'clock they started walking to Janice's house very slowly, and they finally got there at about 6:30pm. They made sure to put their book bags by the door so they could grab them on the way out, and went to the living room where Janice and Nate were waiting."What took you so long? I thought we agreed on 6:15!" said Janice jokingly."I know, I know. Sorry, my mom made me finish all my homework before i left and she almost didn't let me come. I had to tell her that we were doing a project together that we needed to work on and she made me bring my book bag." replied Cameron."Oh, I see okay. So are you ready to go now?""Yes," replied Cameron, "But me, Clara and Alissa need to take our book bags with us 'cause i don't think there will be time for us to come back and get them on the way back. That will take too long.""Why did Alissa come?" asked Janice nervously."Me and Clara made up and we wanted to hangout so she invited me to come with you guys. It sounds fun." replied Alissa."Okay... let's go then." said Janice. And they left, Cameron reminded Alissa and Clara to get their book bags and they shared one last glance at each other before separating into the spots like they planned. Alissa, Nate, Cameron, Janice, Clara in that order left to right. It separated Nate from Janice and already had them split into the groups they had planned. As they started off down the street towards the field, Clara though of what this would do to her. It wasn't right, but neither was what Janice and Nate did. Janice is a two faced bitch, thought Clara, I don't even know who she is, she probably lied about that too.And as for Nate, I don't understand how I ever could have liked him in the first place. We barely even talked aside from that first night... I should have just chose Cameron from the start. At least Cameron cares... They reached the end of the road."Which way?" asked Alissa."Right." replied Cameron. They turned right and continued walking silently. Okay, here was go. Just a few more blocks then I'll never have to deal with Janice again. Clara reached from the straps of her book bag, resting her hands there to stop them from shaking. Just a few more minutes, keep walking. They were halfway down the second street when a car turns onto the road heading right toward them. I could push her in front of the car, maybe that's an easier way, thought Clara. The car was approaching, she was going to miss her chance. What about Nate? He'll figure out the plan. What if she screams and people hear? No, that can't happen. We must wait. The car passed by them, Clara gripped her backpack handles tighter. Stop shaking! She urged her hands to lay still, but she was too anxious. So many things could go wrong. The plan could fall apart with one wrong move. One wrong word or action could make them suspect something. Left turn. Clara could see the cornfield now, it was straight ahead. Only a couple more minutes... then the deed will be done and everything will go back to how it was before. I won't have friends. Janice was never really a friend though... so what difference does it make? One hundred yards between them and the cornfield. I'll still have Cameron though, maybe even Alissa too. As long as everything goes according to plan... Fifty yards left. It wasn't all Janice's fault, Nate was the one who dated everyone. He deserves this just as much as her. And to think, I dated him. The thought of it makes me want to puke now. Oh, if only I would've known what kinda guy he was before. This never would've happened.Twenty yards. I won't even be sad. I'll be glad when they're gone. All they did was cause me pain, I HATE THEM. After all that happened to me before, they still chose to play me like a game. Well, let's see who the real losers are. Ugh, they'll see, wait, actually they won't. Ten yards. I'm ready. I don't care if they beg and plead. They can't take back what they did to me. They deserve this, they earned it. Cameron, Alissa, and me all agree, so it must not be wrong. This is their punishment. They hurt us, we hurt them worse. I know it isn't a very good strategy, but what more can we do? Janice acted like my friend. ACTED like my friend. She never truly was. Only a few feet left. This is our only choice. They reached the outer edge of the cornfield.
Clara glanced at Janice and smiled, "We can split up into groups and play hide and seek. It'll be really fun."
"Boys on one team, girls on the other?" asked Cameron.
"Sounds great, girls hide first." replied Alissa.
Before Nate or Janice could argue, Alissa and Clara ran off into the field, pulling Janice after them. Nate and Cameron counted to thirty and then started off into the field themselves.
