The Dark Forest

Chapter 4

The gang was completely tired of walking for miles. They were exhausted, they couldn't go any farther.

" Do we have any water left?" asked Catherine.

"Nope, someone drank it all." said Amanda staring directly at Jake.

"My leg hurt and I think something's happening to it, not just the leg but I fell like I'm gonna faint"

Jake was pale and breathing heavily. Fiona was worried for him, yet had a strange feeling when she got near him. Fiona thought it was nothing, but it was worse than she thought.

"We should camp here, looks save. I'll go get some wood for the fire." said Amanda.

"No! What if an animal sees it and eats us for dinner, or someone sees it and tries to kill us! I'm NOT gonna risk that." said Catherine. Catherine can be gullible some times, but this time she mad a point.

"I'm with Catherine. You don't know what's out there." said Drake.

" But will freeze to death. I won't risk that either".

Everyone was screaming at each other for no reason, just for something stupid as a fire. Fiona thought this was just ridicules and that she had to do something.

"Stop!" she said. "Look at your selfs. If we're gonna stay together, we have to learn to get use to this. Look, I know you all hate this put so do I, so stop acting like little stupid kids and get to an agreement already!" screamed Fiona.

She doesn't usually do this, especially on front of friends, but she had such a terrible day, she couldn't help it.

"Maybe we overreacted a bit" said Catherine knowing that Drake wouldn't apologize,so she would have to apologize for both of them.

"Yeah ,us too." said Amanda. "So what are we gonna do with the fire thing?" said Drake. "We can put it up, just for the night." said Catherine.

"Glad you guys reached an agreement" said Fiona. Fiona wasn't just having a bad day, she was feeling weird to.

After sometime, they got there energy back and went going further, just waiting for something to struck.

"Hey guys, look over there, I think that's a mansion. That seems much safer than that bunker." said Catherine while walking. She saw a mansion, it was big. They didn't know if anyone was there, bit it was better staying there than walking around on the woods.

They walked towards it.

"Ok, what now?" said Jake. "Were out but not in."

"Okay, maybe we can break in." said Fiona. She saw a big, heavy rock. She lifted it and threw it at the window. It didn't do anything, not even a scratch.

"Any better ideas." she sighed, kicking the rock aside. Surprisingly the rock went really far away, probably 2 or 3 feet away.

"I'll try jamming the door open, you guys keep look out." said Catherine.

"Well stay with you." said Amanda volunteering Drake.

Fiona and Jake had to stand guard 50 feet away from the house. They both felt really bad. They were both pale and weak, with no one with them. After some time Jake started feeling even worse than before. Fiona heard him groan, then he screamed.

"Jake!!"

He fell to the ground. He was cold. Suddenly someone was firing a gun. Then a Fiona heard a roar. She blacked out.

After some time, Fiona woke up in a room in the house. She got out of the room and found everyone standing there in the hallway.

"Hey guys"

Fiona was still weak but she wasn't as much as she was earlier, in fact she wasn't even as hungry.

"Fiona! I'm so glad your up." said Drake.

"What happen?"

"Someone was firing a gun at you guys. When I went to get you , a bullet almost hit you and me. Then I saw you both in the floor." said Amanda.

Fiona noticed she wasn't telling her something. "Then what happened?"

"We could only save one of you, Jake's still outside. Catherine went to get him."

Catherine then came running through the door. She had tears on her cheeks and she was still crying

"Catherine, are you okay? What happened?" said Drake.

"I went outside and the man wasn't there anymore, so I went towards Jake and blood was all over him. Jake's dead! He was shoot by the same guy that was shooting the gun!"she cried.

Everyone, even Amanda was sad about the lost of there friend. This was a sad day for everyone.

"I'm so sorry everyone. It's all my fault. I couldn't save him in time." said Fiona with tears in her eyes.

A few minutes passed and everyone was tired.

"I'm gonna go head to bed." said Fiona.

The second she left Catherine stood up from the floor.

"Guys there something I didn't tell you." she said. She stopped crying.

"What is it? Should we go get Fiona?" said Drake.

"No! Not now at least. Let her sleep."

Catherine got really serious when she said not to get Fiona.

"Look, I lied about what I said."

"Wait, so Jake's alive?" asked Amanda.

"No, he's dead. I lied about who killed him."

"Who did?" asked Drake.

"Fiona. Fiona killed him."
