Layla's POV
"How long are you grounded for?" Tris asks as we walk out into the parking lot. The breeze blows my dress up slightly and I have to clutch it tightly so that I don't flash the whole student population.
"It's uncertain." I say, flattening my dress down over my thighs. She loops her arm through mine and pulls me close to her side. "As long as your not grounded on Homecoming night. That's all that matters."
I can't help but let out a sarcastic laugh. "Yeah, because who exactly would I be going to Homecoming with?"
She stops walking, causing me to stumble because she still has her arm interlinked with mine. "You don't have to have a date to go, ya know? And by looks of things, wouldn't Eric be your date?"
Now I really laugh out loud. I place both my hands on my hips and cock my head to the side. "Does Eric strike you as the type to go to Homecoming?"
Tris rolls her eyes while crossing her arms. "I don't think he would want you to go with anyone else." We return walking through the parking lot to the fields.
Would Eric even ask me?
I keep my head down, staring at the concrete beneath my feet. I would love to believe that Eric would be a gentleman and come to pick me up and take me dancing but he has never been the type. Why would I change any of that?
The field is only a few feet in front of us. I don't want to up there. The looks my father has given me ever since he caught Eric and I making out, have been less than pleasant. When I told my mom what had happened, she asked me what had come over me. Why would I do such a skanky thing. That hurt. I wasn't anything close to a skank and she knew that!
After 3 days, the whole football team found out what happened. Whispers circulated in the hallway and people stared in disbelief. Needless to say, I've kept far away from Eric. I've even been avoiding his calls and texts. I need to lay low from him.
"Don't let them give you a hard time." Tris says to me as I stare off into space. She pulls me into a tight hug and I can't help but accept her warm embrace. "Four's got your back, too." I pull away from her and smile. "Thanks, Tris."
As I walk onto the field, I notice that hardly anyone is out here. I'm so distracted by the emptiness that I don't notice someone approach me from behind. A rough hand latches onto my arm and pulls me against them. The force of it causes me to lose breath, momentarily.
I look up to see raging blue eyes. Eric's lip is curled up into a snarl and it frightens me to no end. "Is there a reason you've decided to avoid me?" He growls down at me. He pushes us off to the side of the bleachers where we are out of view to anyone who would come onto the field. He keeps me locked under his hold. I try and turn so that I can get a better look at him.
"I got grounded." I whisper up to him. His hard stare continues to bore into my own eyes. "My dad got really upset at me. I've just been trying to keep my distance and not cause any more tension."
His look doesn't soften like I had hoped but he brings his hands up and places them on either side of my face. His right thumb pulls down on my bottom lip, revealing the bite mark that he gave me. His eyes linger on it for a few moments before he returns his gaze to mine. "You're driving me fuckin crazy." He still sounds angry and his tone makes me shiver under his hold.
I let out a deep sigh. "I'm sorry, I just can't handle this right now."
Eric's lips attach themselves to mine in seconds. His tongue runs over the scar on my bottom lip before it penetrates my mouth. His mouth devours mine. My heart pounds in my chest uncontrollably. Out of pure instinct, my arms circle around his neck and I perch up on my tiptoes to get closer to him. He leans down some and brings her arms around my waist, pulling me into his chest.
The hungry kisses turn into gentle pecks, giving me a warm feeling in the pit of my stomach. He pulls away only to kiss down my jaw line to my neck. I giggle as he hits a sensitive spot. "Eric, that tickles." I can feel his lips curl up into a smirk and he pulls back so that he can look down at me. The hunger in his eyes is gone...for now. He must have satisfied his appetite.
"I needed that." He says, simply. I smile at him and stretch up to him once more and place another kiss on his lips. He doesn't hesitate and kisses me forcefully. I have to pull back.
"I won't be able to stop next time you keep yourself from like that, Gracie."
My cheeks flare up into a deep blush and I turn away from his gaze and look to the ground. His index finger comes under my chin, forcing me to look at him.
"I'm still grounded, Eric. You don't have any control over that."
He lifts his chin up, giving me a challenging look. "You don't think so?"
Another hard kiss is pressed to my lips before he pulls away altogther leaving me breathless. I watch him run back out onto the field. A crowd has now formed and I look over to see my dad giving instructions to Four.
I slowly walk over the bleachers and sit down. I pull out a book from my book bag and begin reading or at least pretending. I sneak glances at Eric every so often to only find that he is watching me also.
My dad suddenly appears in front of me. He seems to be upset about something. "What's wrong?" I ask, innocently.
"If you make eye contact with him one more time, you can guarntee to never walk on this field again."
