Five days have passed, and Clary's forehead cut had not yet healed. Which was odd. Cuts and wounds should mend in a matter of three days or less, right?
Maybe it works differently when these cuts and wounds appear randomly on your body.
These five days have been torturous for poor Clary, who spent most of the time trying to untangle the mess of blurry memories that made no sense from the night of the Halloween party. Every time she tried to review the chain of events, she ended up with nothing new that could explain her cut or why her memory is so clouded. At some point, she even had faith that the internet might help her, so she searched 'memory problems', but only came across articles about aging, dementia, and Alzheimer's. She also tried to ask Caroline or Bonnie about it, but they claimed that neither of them had seen her after she went to talk to her brother at the party.
And speaking of, Chris, too, had had his skepticisms about everything regarding Clary's memory of that night. He informed her that he looked for her all around the party until he ran into Stefan, who told him he had seen Clary walk home alone at some point. Both siblings found it awfully unreasonable-- Clary would never leave the party alone, in the dark, without telling her brother anything. The next thing Chris knew, he found her fast asleep in her bed, with messy hair, costume on, and make-up off.
Linda and Charlie, when asked, told they went to bed early that night despite being worried for their children's safety, and so have never seen or heard Clary when she came back from the party in the first place.
So, basically, she was screwed.
The only person whose part of the story did not seem right was Stefan, and given her former suspicions about him, she had a strong feeling that he knew more than just how Clary left the party.
However, she was going to stay in the dark with her questions for a while, since Bonnie had told her of Stefan and Elena's breakup and how he went MIA and possibly left school. It also wouldn't be sensitive of her to question Elena if she knows anything about her cut or about the events of the party because she was bedridden with the heartache of a breakup.
So for the time being, Clary had to put her curiosity aside and be the good friend she is with Bonnie as they made their way to Elena's house with a tissue box and ice cream bucket.
"Okay, go ahead." Bonnie encouraged quietly as the two were standing in front of their friend's bedroom door.
"Wait, what? Why me? You do it!" Clary whisper-shouted.
