*just something quick so y'all won't get board. Still working on this one oneshot*
Chris' POV:

As he felt the helicopter gaining altitude away from the volcano, he watched the giant montrosity of a man glaring back at him. He was barely recognisable, his body marked with dark tentacle-like forms that encapsulated his body.

He was no longer a human. One might even say that he is part-man and part-beast, a pitiful creature who gave up his humanity in pursuit of something he deems greater and superior to everything -- the cursed uroboros.

It was then when he realised he was finally getting away from him, away from the volcano.

No more Wesker, no more Umbrella, no more viruses.

"CHRIS!' Wesker shouted in fury.

Switching his gaze, he looked into the man's flaring red eyes, meeting it for a few seconds before his head sank into the scorching hot lava.

And then he was gone.

Chris continued to daze into nothingness as the aircraft drove him away from the volcano, which slowly started to shrink away from him, getting smaller and smaller, and -

'Hey, Chris.. You doing all right there?'  Sheva asked concerningly.

The sudden familiar voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

Right. He had almost forgot that she was with him too.

'Y.. Yeah I'm fine.' he shrugged and smiled.

'If you say so..'

Turning his head away, his thoughts started rushing into his mind. There were many questions that arose in his head:

Was this the only way to stop Wesker?

Could he have been spared instead?

Would it have been possible to get him back on their side?

He sighed and shook his head.

He knew that what has been done is already done, and nothing can change the fact that Wesker is now dead.

But... He still can't help but feel an inkling of sadness towards him, in fact, Wesker wasn't like this back when he was still with S.T.A.R.S. At least, he didn't explicitly reveal himself to be some madman who wanted to take over the world. He was the man that he had admired in his rookie days, always so responsible, intelligent and cool-headed. He thought that he would get to learn many things under his wing and guidance, only to find out that he... betrayed them after all the times that they had spent together.

He liked him.

Wesker's POV:

I knew Chris when he was a recruit.

I've always taken an interest in the man, he is, at the very least, interesting and fascinating to know.

Well-built and a team leader, I knew that he would make the perfect S.T.A.R.S member.

At times, I find myself deeply entertained by the man, who seems to not know basic and proper mannerisms, always greeting me so informally, charging into my office at random times of the day.

He is a good spirited man, that I applaud. Everyone seems to enjoy his boisterous presence around the headquarters, including Ms Valentine herself. But I also knew that I couldn't stall my plans for long...

And now, we met again in the fiery depths of hell.

The uroboros were no longer useful to me, they were burning just like I am. I knew that I was going to die painfully.

Looking up, I saw the man who had used to treat me like a partner, looking into my eyes with pity, with a teeny bit of distaste.

I could go on and on why I hate being pittied on, but for him, I would make an exception. I'm sure that anyone  would have done the same, given if they were in his position, no?

I did not blame him for it.

But as I sank into the molten magma, I let out a cry, 'CHRIS!'

It was neither out of hate nor anger, but affirmation. I reaffirmed that this man, my ex-comrade, my enemy, 'Chris Redfield' , would hear me,  see me, and not forget me.

Before my last moments, we locked eyes with each other. His eyes reminded me of his rookie days, always looking so confused and dazed.

Hah, It was a nice memory...

Maybe in another world, things would have turned out differently between the both of us. You might be wondering why I'm thinking of this out of the blue. Maybe I would tell you, Maybe I wouldn't.

I suppose I might have favoured the man.

Hah.

And with that thought, everything went to black
