We had such a fun day just laughing around the house! We spent the afternoon by the lake until it got dark, and then went inside to have dinner with everyone.

Lucian headed out with his girlfriend, making the most of their time together since we're both moving to New York for college, and she'll be staying in Los Angeles. It's going to be a long-distance thing for a while, and I really feel for them!

They're such a cute couple!

As for me, being the oldest and still single, it's not too big of a deal. There's plenty of time for love, but sometimes it can be a little tough. I mean, it's nice to have a partner around to keep you company and share those sweet moments with.

Honestly, I crave that connection sometimes.

Okay, maybe more than just sometimes!

"Are you all set for the party next week? I heard
It's going to be fire. You know Alan throws the best bashes in the city!" Milo broke the silence, and we instantly perked up. Carden was obviously intrigued and started probing for all the juicy details, while Lain just sat back and observed.

"Lucian is definitely in, and Kylie isn't getting a say in this because I said so!" Milo quipped, casually snatching a bite of his side salad.

"Lain wouldn't miss it for the world, and of course, his girlfriend is tagging along." He rolled his eyes, and I tried to stifle a giggle.

"I really don't think I should go," I said, half-heartedly. Milo's expression instantly morphed into one of disbelief.

"Come on, Kylie! It's your last month here! We have to make every moment count!" His enthusiasm was infectious; I couldn't help but adore his passion. "Who knows when we'll all hang out again? Maybe you'll fall in love with New York and decide to stay! Have you ever thought about that?" he asked, raising an eyebrow with a playful smirk.

"Um, not really. I've been to New York before, and I came back—no way I'm settling there! It's not that I don't love it; I just can't give up this place!" I explained, guzzling my glass of water like it was a sprint.

"Right, oddly enough, I trust you. When you say it, I know it's real." I nodded, confirming his words, and then leaped up from my chair.

"Anyway, you guys enjoy! I need to get ready for bed," I said, pushing my seat under the table. But then an idea struck me. I turned back, my eyes gleaming. "Actually, how about a movie night? We can binge-watch Twilight!" I flashed a wide grin at Carden and Milo. There was no doubt they'd be on board, and naturally, Lain would be too.

"Of course!" they chimed in, and I felt a surge of excitement. This night was just getting started!

Lain's pov'

I settled into the comfy seat in the cinema room, all ready to watch a movie. The screen was lit up and snacks and drinks were waiting on the table.

I didn't plan on getting tipsy tonight, but those bottles were just calling out to me. I couldn't resist.

I mixed up a cup of something with a splash of lemonade to take the edge off and grabbed a bag of chips as I made my way back to my seat.

Kylie rushed into the room in her PJs, wrapped in a pink blanket, her slippers squeaking against the floor as she zoomed over to me.

I caught her scent before she even got close, and that heart-melting smile of hers? Hard to resist.

"Hi," she takes the cup off my hand and the chip bag too, as if I was holding that all ready for her to take when she came in. I didn't mind at all, and the fact that I had already taken a sip of that drink and now she was drinking off it made me feel some type of way.

I managed to say something before getting jolted out of my surprise by the door swinging open and light flooding in. I mixed another drink, grabbed another chip bag, and headed over to Kylie, who had plopped down in one of the couple's recliners. I slid in next to her, trying to make the most of the space.

The noise from Milo and Carden arguing over the seats started to bug me, and I almost snapped at them, but Kylie jumped in first.

"Shut up and sit down! You're wasting time." She rolls her eyes and lies back staring at the screen.
Pressing play, so they didn't have any more room to argue.

Good.

"You wanna get in?" She lifts the corner of the blanket, inviting me to slide closer and under the blanket and I don't even hesitate.
Anything to feel the same way we did when we were younger.

Her knees touched the side of my thigh.

"Thanks," I whisper before turning my attention back on the screen.

...

Halfway through the second movie Kylie is leaning against me and breathing softly. She might be asleep.

Taking that as a sign I grabbed the cup out of her hand and pulled her to lay on my chest.

I turned the volume down and got comfortable myself, doesn't seem like we're gonna move from this room any time soon tonight. Might as well get comfy.

And I could never not sleep well when I'm sleeping next to Kylie, she's the cuddliest person ever and I know that because we had a lot of sleepovers as kids.

We still do but not as much.
I'm so happy I finally got the chance to feel like a kid again, it's the best feeling ever.

Warm and comforting.
Or is it just her that makes me feel like that, I'm not sure.

But I'm sure as hell no other person has made me feel the same way she does.
Just the mere look or touch of her makes me feel right.

My heart can't shut up about her being on top of me right now.
It gets so happy when she's this close.
I'm like a child on a Christmas morning every time but only on the inside because I can't show her that I'm a complete psycho about her, she would hate me.

She already hates me enough as it is, I don't want to completely lose her.

I won't lose her.
