Pete was sitting at the edge of the bed back to his room in the main family's mansion. He kept staring at the mosquito repellent , which was now placed at the nightstand next to his bed, with a blank face and eyes wandering into space.

''You should be careful if you don't want your blood sucked out''

The same phrase kept replaying in Pete's head all the way back to the mansion like a broken record. He should feel afraid or, at least worried over the possibility that Vegas had found out that he was on his tail.

The more he thought it over, the less it sounded like a threat.

'' You should be careful if -'' That is right. '' Careful'' Whispered Pete softly to himself in the dark of his room . It was a warning he concluded while sinking his back into the single firm mattress and his eyes meeting the ceiling.

Despite being pitch black in the room, Pete's eyes had adjusted already in the darkness and he could detect his surroundings. He stretched out on the bed, allowing his body to relax and a soft puff escaped his lips. He was not sure if it was caused by the stretching or it was a sigh of relief that it was Nop the one he met at the store. He was only sure of one thing. He needed to advance his following plans if he did not wish Vegas to be the one to catch him next. Then he shut his eyes closed and quickly fell asleep knowing that he had a long day ahead of him tomorrow.

The morning came quicker than Pete would have preferred, and he had no choice but to get up to continue the work he had been assigned for over the past week. He got up and after taking a quick shower, he put on the most casual clothes he could find so he wouldn't draw attention later by following Vegas.

He entered the cafeteria where all the bodyguards ate, filled his tray and out of the corner of his eye noticed Arm and Pol already seated at a table in the corner of the room. He walked towards them with a troubled expression on his face. He couldn't get Nop's words out of his head, but what was worse was that the voice in his head wouldn't fucking shut up.

What if Nop told Vegas that you' re watching him?

What if Vegas knows and is waiting for your next move to catch you in the act?

What would you do then? You know how killing you would be the least he would do?

''Why the long face?" asked Pol as he prepared to take a bite of rice from his spoon, interrupting the voice in Pete's head.

''It must have something to do with Vegas, Kinn assigned Pete to keep his eyes on him'' Arm replied as Pete nodded in affirmation as he pulled out the chair to sit down.

''That sounds like trouble,'' Pol expressed and Arm agreed.

"Perhaps it would be best to report it to kinn," Arm advised with a faint look of concern.

''Perhaps...'' Pete repeated without his face forming any particular expression. ''But that doesn't mean the danger will diminish, I'll still have to find evidence against Vegas,'' he continued and focused on his food.

........

It was nearly seven o'clock in the morning and Pete was waiting at the entrance to the corner near Vega's house as he usually did in the last few days. He spotted Vegas' car coming out of the main gate of the house and going at incredible speed; as if rushing to get out of there. Pete immediately started the car, following him at a reasonable distance.

The same route once again. Every morning Vegas left home to buy food from a restaurant and get coffee until it was time to go to the university.

He didn't seem to be eating breakfast at home, Pete thought, and then realized. Vegas was leaving the house way too early. It was only 7:00 in the morning and his classes started at 9:00. He wondered if he didn't like staying home and if he was trying to find an excuse to spend less time there. It was a feeling that Pete understood. There had been plenty of times in the past when he would leave early in the morning and go to the bus stop several hours ahead of time and after school,he would sit in the library to avoid spending time at home.
