No Legacy Is So Rich As Honesty

Pete had learned the truth of this world from a young age. That there was no room for sincerity. Every trace of it was hidden deep in the depths of the earth. If the world was a stage, life was a play and people were a part of it, participating in the transparent hypocrisy.

Everyone has secrets, some perhaps darker than others. But everyone has things they don't want others to know. Pete is no exception.

He's played his role all his life, played it so well that he became so absorbed in the role to the point of losing his true self to it. Because who exactly was Pete?

Pete the smiling, loyal, friendly, patient and faithful bodyguard of the main family. That would probably be the answer one would give if asked what Pete was like. But Pete was nothing but a shell made up of all these elements to cover up what was really behind it all.

Pete couldn't help but think how ironic that tattoo on his left thigh was. It was Tankhun who urged him to get a tattoo as he had been fascinated with Porche's and got Pete to get one too.

If Pete's exterior was nothing but a cocoon hiding all his truth inside then he needed to mark it before he lost himself. It was a symbolic reminder of which only he knew the meaning.

Honesty had no place in a world full of hypocrites, hypocrites like the person standing in front of him holding a gun pointed at him.

The crucial day had come and Pete snuck into the Minor family's mansion and into Vegas' office where he found the documents proving the corruption that exists between the families , but what he didn't expect to find were thousands of videos of pornographic material depicting Vegas with Tawan and several other sex partners of Kinn.

His stomach felt heavy, his lips parted and his tongue was pushing slightly forward but he managed to force down an uncomfortable swallow. He wanted to avert his gaze from the content in front of him. It was disgusting to say the least. All of it, Vegas' actions, the content depicted, Vegas' obsession with Kinn that led him to do such a thing. Did those people even know they were being recorded? The thought of them not being aware made Pete's throat burn and his stomach twist.

But his biggest surprise was Big pointing a gun at him. There were suspicions that there was a traitor in their midst, yet Pete was surprised it was him.

''So it was you all along?'' Pete blurted out while lifting his body off the chair and put his hands up in an act of surrender.

''Well, It does not matter. Whatever plan you had, it is over. I already sent the evidence to Kinn'' He added capriciously.

''Your life will be over as well the moment Vegas comes back '' Big grinned cheekily as more bodyguards came rushing in the room surrounding him. It was futile to try anything now so he surrendered without a fight.

He knew since he entered the mansion. No. since he sealed the deal,no it was long before that. Before he stalked Vegas.He knew since he started working under the Main family. His life would not be long.

However, knowing his life is coming to an end and actually realizing it, as the harsh reality is unfolding in front of him, are two different things. It would be a lie to say there was not a single trace of fear, he was a human after all, but it was nothing he could not suppress. He had made peace with death long ago since he never found peace in life.

Pete was tied to the concrete pole of the basement where the bodyguards also unzipped his jumpsuit revealing his upper body. He was there left in the dark and cold under the surveillance of two bodyguards.

The cement floor felt cold against his bare feet , he looked around and the only source of light he could identify was the lamp on the ceiling which softly illuminated the different tools placed on the wooden table and the chains that were hanging from the curtain rod. The light reflected on the green curtains in front of him making its color take over the room along with a fiery shade of red.
