I couldn't help but be reminded of phoenix, a bird which obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. That's what I felt like as I left the ashes of my painful past.

This was a new start for me and all I felt was love for my little pup growing in my belly as I idly kept my hand on my growing belly. After a lot of travelling and searching I had finally managed to find my aunt who was more than welcoming towards her when she realised my parents had died.

Werewolf babies gestation period is only 5 months as compared to humans and there was only couple of days left for my due date.

I needed a job as soon as I could stand on my feet because I couldn't be dependent on my aunt forever and so I was searching for jobs for which I could join once I was done with my surgery. I wasn't having any luck with jobs because people don't take pregnant ladies seriously.

"Sweetie, why don't you work at my friend's diner?"Aunt Kathy questioned me.

My aunt best friend owns a small diner in this town, it wasn't that big but it was really famous for its food.
"Are you sure they won't mind?" I didn't want to be a burden for anyone after all my aunt had dome for me.

"Of course not, they'll be more than happy to employ you" she replied.
Yay, I finally had a job. I couldn't help but feel teary eyed at my aunt's kindness, she has been more than forthcoming and sweet towards me, and also my emotions were all the place as a result of pregnancy.

Finally the day had arrived and I was lying in the hospital bed, my aunt had driven me here when my water broke. She became more nervous than I was and was yelling profanities at any passerby when she was driving. I would have chuckled at that if I hadn't been going through these painful contraction.

Breathe Eve, breathe.
You'll get through this, you always do.

It seemed like an eternity before the midwife finally showed up. My aunt was was so sweet, asking me how I was doing and if there was anything she could do. I almost screamed "Have the baby for me".

A lot of what happened next is kind of a blur, mostly just getting comfortable and dealing with each contraction one by one by one with my aunt holding by hands firmly. I kept thinking that there was just no way they could ever get worse than they are now, that all my muscles in my uterus would just rip in two if they got any harder, but oh did they get harder!

" Keep pushing" the doctor urged her.
Couldn't I just stop and get some rest and try again tomorrow?

Finally I felt the stretching, and while roaring and growling into my pillow, pushed the baby's head out.

Then I heard the most wonderful cry of my baby announcing her arrival. Yes, it was a baby girl as I stared into her innocent green eyes. The name I had finally decided for my little one was Athena, named after the goddess of peace and wisdom.

In that moment I made a solemn promise to protect her from anything and everything.

A.N: Hey guys this is my first book so please don't judge me if I have made any mistake. Peace out. \m/
