Ava held her breath as she held the phone to her ear. she was begging him to take the phone, she just needed to hear his voice.

"Come on Kirk. Come on." She bit her nails. No one picked up the phone. No one.

Ava sighed as she placed the phone back on the wall. She wrapped a blanket more secure around her and stood still by the window.

it was November. the temperature dropping, darker days and Ava really missed Kirk. Some halloween decorations were still up, mostly because that's how Kirk liked it, and because he left before they took it down.

"Wherever you are right now, I wish you a happy birthday." She whispered to the sky. Hoping that somewhere out there, he heard her.

She curled up on the couch, the radio playing softly in the background. Ava stroked their little cat, and he purred as her fingers met his fur. "I know you miss him too. He's been away for sometime now."

The cat only snuggled closer to her and she felt her eyes sting. "I miss him a lot." She quietly sobbed.

Ava was used to Kirk leaving with his band, but it never meant that it became easier for her. And after Cliff's death, it became even harder. She was worried that maybe another band member came home in a casket.

the television still kept going, while Ava was drifting off to sleep.

"Babe?" A male voice spoke softly. Ava don't budge. This was only happening in her head. "Ava darling?" The voice was more clear than the voices in her head. Her eyes fluttered open, only to meet the beautiful eyes of her boyfriend.

She didn't say a word. She just threw her arms around his neck. "Oh, hey baby." Kirk had to support himself with his other arm, while one was wrapped around his girl.

Ava felt the tears running down her cheek, but simply didn't care. Kirk managed to sit down, Ava now sat in his lap. Her legs wrapped around his waist, face snuggled as deep into his neck as possible, her fingers in his hair.

"I've missed you." She whispered into his skin, leaving goosebumps all over. Kirk let out a sigh. "I've missed you too. So much Ava." He lifted her face, staring into her eyes.

"Man, I hate leaving you every time." She was so beautiful, it hurt. Kirk had always been scared to come home, only to find the apartment empty. Afraid that Ava would leave.

"I got something for you!" Ava got up, and went to the bedroom. The box was quite big, and Kirk raised a eyebrow. "I thought I said not to get me anything." His eyes didn't leave her body. "But I wanted to," She bit her lip.

She sat a little fit her away from him now, handing him the box. He opened it slowly and carefully.

it was a guitar. a brand new guitar. "Ava." His voice came out like a breath. "Don't you like it?" She bit her nails, trying to read his body language.

"How much did this cost you?" His eyes were wide. "That's not important. Do you like it?"

Kirk softened. "No."

Ava's face dropped.

"I love it." He got up from the floor and went over to her. Kirk lifted her up and kissed her lips. "Thank you so much, sweetheart."

Ava's smiled hadn't been that bright in a long time.
"I love you Ava. Never forget that."

"I love you too, my little fluff ball."
