"Amane-kun sucks!" declared Sousuke.

"What?" asked Amane.

"Since we returned from our last adventure, you are not talking to anyone and only soar in your thoughts!

"So tell me, Amane-kun, what's troubling you?" Sousuke was staring at his face.

"Help me get these bags to the school kitchen," Amane dodged the question. "We have to prepare something."

Three boys headed to the kitchen.

"What are we cooking?" asked Tsukasa.

"Strawberry-filled rice cakes," replied Amane.

"Oh! Those are Hanako-san's favourites!" Tsukasa exclaimed. "Are you going on a date?"

"I'M NOT!"

"He is!" intervened Sousuke with a sweet smile. "It's just like Natsuhiko-senpai said. They are in LOOOOVE."

"Knock it off!" Amane was angry, "This is not for a date!"

"Then why so sudden?" asked Sousuke. "Mmmmm? That's what I thought."

"Guys... I need to tell you something," Amane looked sad.

"So... she used to be a student here."

"The thing is... I think maybe I should not be her friend anymore! I mean... she's dead! And she's a school mystery!"

"And a murderer," inserted Sousuke. "The guy that cheated on her... I bet she just sliced his body into multiple parts! Crazy shovel-senpai."

"She's not a murderer!" Amane defended her. "She has always been hard to pin down... but this is worse than I thought. It's too heavy! It's too much trouble. What should I do? I don't know how to act around her!..

"But for some reason... I can't just forget about her. I know it's a bad idead to get in too deep. But I want to know more about Hanako-san. Maybe there's nothing I can do... but I want to help her. Even if she's a ghost... I don't know why but I... I... What should I do?"

"We are with you, Amane-kun!" announced Sousuke. "Lately I did not know if I could trust her. She was acting weird with her shovel. But for now I decided not to worry about that and just do what I want. So let's do what we can together!"

"Just be careful around her. Don't get yourself killed," added Tsukasa.

Rice cakes were ready. Strawberry smell was filling the kitchen.

"They look so good..." said Sousuke.

"I'm going to see Hanako-san!" announced Amane.

"Good luck with your date!" smiled Tsukasa.

"IT'S NOT A DATE!"

A single mokke escaped the kitchen and skipped over to the old school building.

"Have you got the job done?" asked Natsushiko. "Oh, you have? What a nice child. Here, have your reward." He gave a candy to the mokke.

"What?! Rice cakes? For me? Really?!" Hanako was excited.

"You really like rice cakes then?"

"I love them! And... you are back to normal, Amane-kun. You've been acting weird lately, you know?"

"You are a ghost, Hanako-san. You are already dead. You are different from normal people in many ways. To be honest, you are more trouble than you are worth."

"It hurts!"

"But that's okay. Because I'm just going to do what I want to do. No matter how much trouble you are... I like you, Hanako-san! So I'm going to keep hanging out with you!

"I mean, as a friend, of course!

"Sorry for acting weird. And... this isn't necessarily an apology... but let's have some rice cakes!"

Hanako-san looked sad. "Are you really okay with this?"

"With what?"

"Well, I... the truth is..."

The bag with rice cakes unfolded on its own. Rice cakes flew to the ground. From among them, a black paper crane took off to the sky.

"I don't know what kind of supernatural you are," said Hanako-san, "but we were in the middle of important discussion. So don't interrupt!"

She wielded her shovel and sliced through the crane. But instead of disappearing, the crane turned into black spirit.

"Ha-ha-ha-ha... I FOUND YOU!"

From the smoke a shadowy figure appeared.

"Wow, that shovel brings memories!.. So you will protect him, but you killed me, your best friend? Long time no see... Nene-chan!"

The figure was of a high school girl with violet hair and eyes.

"Surprised? I have a hot assistant too. He helped me make it here.

"So tell me, Nene-chan. Are you happy to see me?"

"Hanako-san!" Amane jumped between them. He splashed the evil ghost with salty tangerine juice.

"Wow!" the girl looked at her hands, where large holes started to appear. "You are not half bad."

The ghost disappeared with a smoke and last words, "see you later."

"That girl... Hanako-san... Is that the person you killed?"

"Sorry... I'm sorry... I have to go," Hanako-san ran away.

Eventually she apologized for ruining the rice cakes and told that Hanako-san had a best friend while she was in the school, but she killed her. Hanako-san promised to tell Amane more at some point in the future. Until then, she asked Amane to be her assistant.
