The Mafia Party

"Excuse me."

Amane rised his eyes from the book he was reading. A girl with green hair in high school dress was standing next to him.

"My name is Sakura Nanamine," she continued. "I was wondering if you wanted to join our group for board games? We are one player short."

Amane was thrilled. It was the first time someone invited him to join games group.

They went to the old school building.

"What kind of games do you have?" asked Amane.

"Oh, we have all sorts of games. Civilization, Uno, Settlers of Catan."

"Wait... why are you holding a goldfish bowl?" asked Amane.

"Surprise!" yelled a girl from behind. Amane turned around to see a bucket of water being dropped on top of him. He turned to a fish.

"Gotcha!" smiled the girl with violet hair. "Put him in a box."

"I'm sorry," said Nanamine. "It's just so you don't see where we are going." They put the fish Amane into goldfish bowl, and put it into a box. It was dark in there.

"What has just happened?" wondered Amane. "They knew for sure I would turn into a fish? And that girl... she's the one Hanako-san has killed. So looks like she's having a grudge against Hanako-san. This does not look like a board games invitation anymore."

He heard a familiar voice. "What have you done? Gah! I just asked you to bring him here. Alright, let me fix it."

Someone took the aquarium out of the box. It was Natsuhiko. He poured water into the bath. With water gone, Amane turned into human in wet clothes. "I'm sorry Yugi-kun. My lady can be so unpredictable. Here, change into these," he handed Amane towel and dry clothes and left the bathroom.

So... Natsuhiko was in league with the mean girls? What was going on here?

Amane stepped out of bathroom and got into a living room. In the middle of it was a table with a stack of board game boxes. There were four chairs around it. There was also a teapot and some cupcakes.

There was water on the floor. A boundary?

"You've done changing?" asked Natsuhiko. "Alright, let's get the party started!"

Everyone sat around the table. Amane watched Nanmine and the evil girl suspiciously.

"You... you are the person Hanako-san killed?" he asked.

"Yes!" the girl smiled. "My name is Aoi, and we were besties with Nene until she decided to murder me."

"Why did she do it?"

"I don't know. Why don't you ask her?"

"She would not tell."

"We are going to play Mafia!" interrupted Natsuhiko. He proceeded to explain the rules. You pick a card. If you are the Mafia, you are on the evil team, the goal is to eliminate all good team, and you get to assassinate one player each night. If you are the Doctor, you are on good team, and you can save one player from assassination each night, but you have to guess Mafia's target correctly to do so. There are also two Civilians, who are good but have no extra powers.

Amane picked a card. He was the Doctor.

"I'm the Doctor!" he announced. This surprised the other kids, if only for a moment.

"That's great!" Aoi smiled. "Who are you going to be healing tonight? You know you should heal yourself. Doctor is the greatest threat to the Mafia, so surviving is essential."
