Chapter 7

Shaxx clenched the reigns of sky and entered a small border village with many houses made from stone foundations and wooden walls and at the end of the main path was an inn bearing a soldier with a wolfs head as a coat of arms hanging above the door

"Shaxx where are we" she looked around cautiously eyeing up all the houses that were visible in the night

"Wolf's March, a border town to the dean Forrest" he walked over to a stable and hitched sky to a post "we deserve a well rested break after all it's been a week since we slept on a bed"

Evaline dismounted sky and looked at a boy who was putting a cover over his own horse.

Shaxx realised and snickered "I'll ask him if he would like to warm your bed tonight" he laughed

"What....noooo he's cute but I don't really do whores I prefer a relationship" she walked out to the main road with shaxx and headed to the inn.

"Wise choice" he opened the door to tavern and sat down at a table in the corner.

The tavern was barren with only three second company guards sat a table on the opposite side of the inn harassing a young maid.

Evaline sat opposite shaxx at the table and her leg began to bounce up and down and she looked disturbed

"Inn keep some service please" he called out the to the old man behind the bar who was cautiously watching the guards
"y..yes of course sire" he walked over to shaxx and evaline "what would you like" even whilst talking to shaxx the inn keep kept staring at the guards

"Chicken, bread and ale please" he looked up at the inn keep "and a room for one"

"Is that all sire?" The inn keep questioned

"She your daughter?" shaxx fastened his cloak to his pauldrons

The inn keep nodded

"On the double lad" he stood up and walked over to the three guards "second company right?"

All three guards had their arming swords fastened to the waists but weren't wearing any armour.
The guard who had the inn keeps daughter on his lap chuckled "why have you come to say thank you" his comrades laughed with him

"Not quite boys you see I'm ex third company I'm the one who saved your useless arses in the landing of serpentine bay" he stood back a little

"What the fuck did you say you cunt" the guard shoved the young girl of his lap

Shaxx helped the girl up "go to your father child" he turned his attention back to the three guards

"I know you" said a guard with a mug of ale in his hand "you're shaxx Morningstar there's a nice price on your head" the three guards stood up and placed their hands on their swords

"You ready to die criminal" said the first guard

Shaxx clicked his neck "evaline look after those two" as he spoke the guards drew their swords

The guard on shaxxs right thrust his blade getting it stuck in shaxxs breast plate
Shaxx placed his right hand on the blade and with his left hand he punched the blade down shattering it "nice attempt" shaxx punched the guard infront of him,the force of the punch was so great that his jaw broke and a flurry of teeth hit the floor and the guard himself to fall over. he then turned to his left grabbing the throat of the guard and crushing it in his hand killing him instantly "little piggy are you still in shock?"

The guard on his left stood there clenching his broken sword. Shaxx pulled the fragment of the sword out of his breast plate and slit the shocked guards throat causing him to collapse to the floor in a pool of piss and blood.

The guard with a broken jaw crawled to the main door crying. Shaxx stepped on the hand of the guard and crushed it causing the guard to make a blood curling struggling scream "you disappoint me boy" shaxx grabbed the guard by his hair and began to smash his face against the stone floor causing his brains to splatter up the main door.

Shaxx stood up straight and the door opened revealing a dozen more second company guards ready to enter the inn

"Let's take this outside boys" shaxx kicked the guard out the door and walked outside closing the door behind him

The inn keep brought the chicken and ale to Evaline and listened to the fighting and screaming out side "I heard stories about the steel demon"

"Steel demon?" Evaline looked at the innkeeper

"Lord Morningstar was in the war and by the wolf if king Richard steel didn't have lord Morningstar he would have lost the war ten fold" he walked behind the bar and began to wash a mug whilst his daughter sat next to evaline

"So are you two in a relationship" the girl said to evaline. The girl had ginger hair and eyes greener than the fields of summer. And around her neck was a sliver chain with a pendant attached engraved with the head of a wolf.

Evaline laughed "no he's to noble for that" she finished her meal "now if you'll excuse me"

She stood up and as she did the door swung
open and shaxx stood there in the door way covered in blood and snow

"You're safe for now" he closed the door and sat down at evalines table

"Thank you m'lord the meal is for free same as the room" the inn keep smiled at his daughter

Shaxx walked to the inn keep and reached into a pouch which and two coins and he pulled a platinum coin bearing the Morningstar insignia "take this old timer go to serpentine bay and give it to an asstenian pirate called jatau he won't be hard to miss he's a fat fuck with skin that's dark"

The inn keep took the coin "thank you again m'lord we shall leave at first light"

Shaxx nodded and sat in a chair resting his sword on his lap "evaline rest up" he fell asleep sat up
