Chapter 6

A week had past since evalines first training session she was learning fast and was getting good at blocking blow with the shield and thrusting effectively

Evaline was sat in the courtyard next to a fire sharpening her arming sword "shaxx being completely honest with you I am getting rather sick of eating pheasant and the occasional potato" she looked up from her sword to see shaxx staring off into the distance

"I know pack your things" he turned his head to evaline "make it fast somethings wrong"

Evaline stood up and sheathed her sword "yes m'lord" she ran into the keep and up to the bedroom and began to pack rations and essentials

Shaxx entered the gate house and climbed the tower. He looked south towards to great city of triads landing and could barely make the candle light of the city out "I hope you're ok Zoe"

Evaline went to where shaxx was stood "all packed m'lord sky has our supplies in her saddle bags"

"Good you would have made a good squire" shaxx smirked a little

"Nope I believe I'd make a better soldier" she giggled and looked southward to triads landing "I miss it" her tone changed and she looked down

Shaxx turned to her. "Don't it's a city full of scum and posh cunts"

"Yeah maybe but the late king was a father figure in my life he let me read any texts I Desired he even took me to the imperial capital in the imperial continent once" she looked up at shaxx who was staring at her "why did you run? You should've stayed in the cell your sentence was almost up"

Shaxx took his great helm off "I do not know, those guards would've done things to you that you wouldn't forget i could not stand by and let that happen"

Evaline nodded "if you had left me you wouldn't be wanted" she walked off down to the stable

Shaxx watched her fasten the saddle to sky and then descended the cold stone steps of the tower "evaline" he stood behind her "I did what was right I am a soldier I learnt to die a long time ago" he helped evaline on to sky

"Thank you" her armour clinked around as she sat up straight on sky and her tone of voice was still sad and broken

Shaxx grabbed the reigns of sky and walked towards the crypt

"Um shaxx this isn't the entrance" she looked down at the top of his helm

"When I dropped the drawbridge I left the castle permanently open for Rodrick but he hasn't showed up yet so we are going to leave a different way" he kicked the rotten wooden door to the crypt open and began to lead sky through

"Woahhh are all the Morningstar's here?" Evaline looked around in amazement as there was tombs three stories high and atleast a thousand bodies

"Most of them" shaxx led sky to the end of large crypt and drew his sword and thrusted it into a hole and twisted it causing some gears to turn. He pulled his sword out of the hole and sheathed it in his scabbard

"Amazing this technology is rare these days" she was still looking around in amazement

Shaxx led sky out to an opening which led to a winding path up to the surface "welcome to the cavern of Catalan a whole world lies at the surface so don't fall hold on tight to the reigns I'll lead sky up" he began to lead sky up the path and could hear evaline faintly praying to the one

The path was narrow and tight this made shaxx walk slow and cautiously and it took them half a day to reach the surface

"That was scary I never want to do that again" evaline looked at shaxx
"Agreed I fucking hate that path, now we head west" he walked west ward with sky following him
Evaline laughed a little "I'm sorry"

Shaxx looked at her "what's funny?"

She suddenly burst out laughing "it's....just....." she laughed harder and tears of joy began to stream from her eyes

Shaxx laughed a little and continued walking west

"The king once told me a joke, what's the difference between a paladin and kings guard?" She looked at shaxx struggling to contain her laughter

"I don't know what is the difference" he looked back her whilst walking past the entrance of castle Morningstar

"The paladin kills pigs whilst the kingsguard protects them" she burst out laughing

Shaxx chuckled a bit "that's a good one"
Evaline wiped her tears away and stopped

laughing after five minutes "so where are we headed"

"I have an old friend that might be to give us a place to live for awhile" he continued walking the weight of his armour not affecting him

"Is he a good man?" She asked her voice curious

Shaxx didn't speak for a bit "she's posh but I believe she is still good"

"She? The infamous shaxx Morningstar renowned for not sleeping with any woman has a female ally" she snickered a little

"Funny fuck aren't you" he laughed a little "before I joined the army she was the only woman I had relations with, I was once a teenager you know"

Evaline smiled brightly "I can't wait to meet her"
