Calen's POV
The quiet rage I feel is clouding all other judgment. Years of pent up rage flows through my veins, daring anyone to stop me.
I slam the gas as fast as the car will take me. I whip into my driveway and slam the door on my way in. Casey turns towards me.
"Calen!" He jumps off his seat and tries to come hug me, but the state I'm in now is not safe. After carefully dodging his small frame, I storm out the training center where I know Cole will be.
I slam the door open to a very surprised Caden and Cole in the middle of a sparring lesson.
"What the fu—" Cole starts. He looks surprised but relieved as well.
"You're not supposed to be here." Caden chimes in.
"Where's Dorian." I ask, looking at Cole.
"What? I don't know."
"Cut the shit, it's your entire fucking life to know where the son of the Galantes is." I growl.
He looks to Caden who starts heading towards me.
"I said, you should go." He says, his voice low and menacing.
"Not right now, Caden. Cole! Tell me!" I yell.
He opens his mouth to tell me when Caden lunges and grabs my arm, trying to drag me out.
My resolve snaps as I shove him off of me and pull out the gun. I aim the gun at his head.
"I said not now. Cole, I'm still waiting." I growl. Caden has a look of shock on his face as Cole stammers to tell me.
"At home. He's at his house. There's a meeting today."
"Thank you. Was that so fucking hard?" I roll my eyes and holster my gun.
I drop the gun and take off towards the jeep, nothing but pure bloodlust coursing through my veins.
...
Aylah's POV
In a panic, I sprint as fast as I can to one of our vehicles and hop in. I start it and pull out of the driveway. I'm stopped by one of the guards, but I just swerve around him, narrowly getting by.
I head straight to Dorian's.
Worry invades my senses as he'll be killed or worse after this is all said and done.
I run past the large double doors into the modern mansion.
"Calen!" I yell.
I hear scuffling from the outdoor pool and immediately head to it. I run outside just in time to see Calen get there first.
"Hey!" He tells. The two guards that are with Dorian turn, but Calen's much faster. He throws two knives that find their home in each of their thighs. They fall clutching their legs. Dorian turns but Calen pulls out his gun and aims.
"What do you think you're doing?" Calen doesn't answer. Just shoots. Dorian yells and grabs his foot.
That glint in his eye is dangerous as ever as he stalks towards him.
"I'll have you killed."
*crack*
Dorian's head snaps back as Calen punches him in the mouth. Blood gushes from his mouth and fuck me if that isn't one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen.
"I didn't say you could speak." Calen's voice is laced with venom.
The two body guards finally pull it together and start to come at him. Calen doesn't look up as he aims his gun at one of them.
"You really want to die for this piece of shit?"
They look at each other for a minute. The guards slowly put down their weapons and flee.
Calen turns back to Dorian.
"Hey Calen, do you remember when we trained together as kids? I always won. Seems like you're too scared to face me hand to hand." Dorian's pathetic attempt and baiting Calen fails miserably.
Calen snorts, "do you really think I'm that stupid? Manipulation won't work with me."
"What? Can't fight fair?" Dorian's voice has started getting more desperate.
The crunching of bones sounds out as Calen stomps on his hand. Hard.
He kneels down as Dorian curls up in pain. "You think what you did to her was fair?"
Dorian laughs. "This is over her? She's nothing. Trash. A means to an end."
Then I see it. Something inside Calen snaps in half. He shoves Dorian on his back and let's go what looks like years of rage on his face. The cracking of bones echo through the concrete area. Blood splatters up his arm as Dorian is beat senseless.
I watch as Calen picks his head up and starts slamming it into the concrete.
"I'll fucking ruin every single inch of skin that touched her. I swear." He snarls.
I realize he's about to kill Dorian and I rush forward, throwing my body on Calen to knock him off.
"Don't! Don't they'll kill you." I plead. He tries to shove me off, but I won't let him. I grab his face and force him to look at me.
His eyes are absolutely wild, barely human.
"Get off." He growls.
"No," my grip on his face tightens, "please don't leave me."
He breathes heavy, but his humanity starts to return. His eyes lose some of the animalistic quality and his shoulders slump. He turns his face in my hands and kisses the palm.
"We have to go." He says. I nod and we're up and running in an instant. He grips my hand tightly in his as he runs ahead with his gun drawn. We're almost out the door when a pair of arms grabs me and holds me back, my grip on his hand failing me. I fight back and hit whatever I can. I hear a grunt and feel happy that o caused it.
"Calen!" I yell. He doesn't answer. I panic as I try my hardest to loosen the assailants grip. I see a knife in his hands so I snap my head back and feel it connect with bone. He drops me and the knife. I grab it and sprint out the doors.
I'm stopped dead in my tracks when I see Calen's body limp in between four other mens. They rain punches into his stomach and on his face, onto his back and legs. I'm afraid he has already passed out when he lifts his head and smiles, a haunting, vicious thing. Blood coats his teeth, but he's never looked more alive.
"Do your fucking worst." He growls.
The guard raises his fist again but before I register what's going I'm sailing through the air. The knife in my hand lands in his neck.
He stumbles back grabbing at the knife. I spin to see Calen when I feel a blunt pain flare across my face.
I must've blacked out because the next thing I know I'm picking myself up off the gravel, blood spilling from somewhere on my body. Everything goes blurry as I hear Calen screaming my name. I turn and watch him break through their grips and run towards me.
"Watch ou-"
My words turn into screams as he's stabbed in the ribs. He drops to his knees as I get up and try to fight my way to him. I scream as they drag me towards the house. I twist enough to finally see them dragging his unconscious body and placing it into a trunk.
I go completely numb as I'm locked in a room inside the Galantes mansion.
