Today marked two years since you had first stayed in this house. Two whole years. Damn, time really flew by. You adjusted nicely to life with the boys. You had started going to school and even made some friends! It was fall break at the moment. Puppy was still going strong for the most part. The crew had fixed up a room that you could call your own. Tord and Tom still bickered constantly, Matt and Edd were still as childish as ever, but you had changed quite a bit.
You were finally able to get out of the shell that you had hidden yourself in while on the streets. You had found the types of music you really liked, discovered your favorite food, and figured out a little bit of your style.
You sat on your bed, staring at the calendar you held in your hands. You wondered if the others had remembered. You absentmindedly pet Puppy, who was snoring peacefully by your side. You had your headphones on and were listening to your favorite songs on repeat.
It was early morning and you had somehow managed to wake up before the sun, so you didn't really have much to do other than wait for everybody else to get up. Maybe you could draw? You had a sketchbook and some art supplies around here somewhere.
Puppy stirred and sneezed, waking himself up. You chuckled. "Aww, are you getting sick, Puppy?"
You gently felt for his lymph nodes to find that they were very swollen. Guess he was getting sick. You'd have to tell the others about that. Puppy groaned and snuggled himself back into your blankets.
You sighed, bored. You didn't know why you had woken up so early, but now that you were, going back to sleep wasn't really an option. You turned to Lulu, who was by your side right next to Puppy. You carefully got out of bed and grabbed the lamb doll, deciding that you would have a little dance.
There was a radio in your room, just an old one that Tom had lent you. You turned it on and changed the channels until you found one that you didn't quite remember being there. It was something old-timey and strangely nostalgic, with a bittersweet melody and sweeping vocals.
You hummed along. You didn't know how you were able to since you didn't remember ever hearing it, but you did.
"Let's dance, Lulu." You told your doll, pretending that she would be able to hear you.
You held her up and twirled her around, it was muscle memory by now. You watched as she spun and leaped and danced in the light. The morning sun was now beginning to peak through your window, revealing all the dust particles floating around. It was quite beautiful and you stopped, taking a moment to enjoy the lighting paired with the music.
The song came to a close and you turned off the radio, wanting to head to the kitchen to get breakfast. As you did so, you saw Tord walk in through the front door, reading a letter with a strange R-shaped symbol on the back. He looked up at you and you smiled.
Tord did not smile back. Instead, he seemed rather... unnerved. You didn't think much of it. Sometimes, he would start acting weird. You assumed that's just how he'd always been.
You carried on with your current task of making toast, and accidentally burned the first batch. You topped it with whatever you like putting on toast, if anything at all. Eventually, the rest of the boys woke up, Edd first.
"Oh, Edd," You remembered, "I think that Puppy's getting sick."
Edd hummed, "I'll have to check him out, then. Thanks for letting me know."
You nodded and watched as he lumbered on over to the fridge and grabbed a can of his cola.
Matt came down from his room soon after, looking oddly perfect. His hair wasn't ruffled, there wasn't any sleep in the corner of his eyes, and no hint of eye bags. You wondered if he had woken up like that.
