Kyubey yawned and stretched as she finally got back to her small, dingy apartment. She could hear arguing next door and she cringed, realizing it'd probably be another sleepless night. She closed her front door, locking it and stepping out of her shoes.
Her eyes wondered to the pile of envelopes on her counter and she winced, taking one in her hand and not surprised when she saw that it was for another bill. Usually she made sure they didn't stack but lately her art was getting requested less and less and she had no idea why. She wasn't bad or anything, just far too small.
She didn't have enough connections but making those kinds of connections was hard and she didn't know where exactly she should start.
Kyubey pushed the envelope to the side and grabbed a sandwich before going to her room and flopping onto the bed. She took out her phone as she took a bite of her plain sandwich and found herself adding Dabi's number to her phone. She stared at it for a while, debating on if she should call or not. She huffed softly and decided to just text him for now, not knowing if he was asleep or not. Not exactly knowing the sleep schedule of a well known street racer. When she finished texting Dabi her phone dinged with a message from Mina.
Alien Queen👾: Kyubey...what are you doing tomorrow??
Kyubey read the message and began to type her response to Mina when her phone went off again. It was from Dabi. So he wasn't asleep.
Dabi: Honestly I'm sitting on my balcony, bored. My..kind of girlfriend is asleep in my bed. What about you? I'm surprised you're not sleep yet.
Kyubey raised a brow to that. So he and his girlfriend really were having problems. She was also surprised he wasn't tired after his racing but then realized he was probably running on adrenaline.
Kyubey: I'm chilling in bed, I actually was going to call you but I didn't know if you were asleep and I didn't want to wake you if you were asleep.
Kyubey quickly responded to Dabi before responding to Mina informing her that she was indeed doing nothing tomorrow besides what she normally does. She finished her sandwich and debated if she should paint a bit before going to bed, feeling a little restless now when her phone began to ring. Someone was calling her?
She assumed it was Mina but when she picked up her phone her eyes widened and her face turned red when she saw the name. It was Dabi who was calling her. She calmed herself down taking a deep breath and then answered.
"I'm surprised you called me first." Kyubey answered giggling softly.
"Like I said, I'm bored. I don't mind getting to know you some more." he murmured and she heard the flick of what she assumed was a lighter. "You smoke?"
"Not always, I'm getting high to try and get rid of how restless I feel. I always get like this after a race. I might go for a long drive at some point." mumbled the male. She heard him inhale and she turned over, staring up at the ceiling.
"Well I wouldn't mind getting to know you either. Is it okay if I call you Touya?" she questioned and he paused. "..I don't mind. No one usually calls me that though." he finally said and she tilted her head curiously though he couldn't see it.
"Is there a reason why?"
"I just don't like it a lot..bad memories attached to it." said Dabi, shrugging as he stared out at the city skyline. It was dark and the sky was full of stars, though he could just barely make them out over the light pollution. "I get that." she said quietly and there was a comfortable silence on Dabi's end.
"How long have you and Mina been friends?" he asked suddenly and she rolled her eyes. "A long time. She supports my art though she worries about me." she said and Dabi leaned on his hand, taking a long drag from the blunt he had rolled. "I would be to. Art isn't easy. Like I said, if you need anything, let me know doll." he sighed, his voice huskier than before.
