Kyubey was painting away after receiving a commission from a somewhat regular client. They had requested a couple of paintings for a decent amount of money. And Kyubey could finally put the huge canvas she had stored to good use. She decided to start on the bigger of the two paintings first, after she finished her breakfast and getting dressed figuring it would be a better idea to take a shower after her work was done.
No matter how hard she tried she would always somehow end up covered in paint. She set up the area she needed moving the furniture out of the way for more space then grabbed her art supplies. Before she sat down to paint she put on some music and grabbed herself a cup of coffee. She hummed softly as she sketched out the picture before she began the painting process.
Soon the sound of the front door opening caught Kyubey's attention. She looked up slightly as Mina walked in. "Sup girly! I had stopped by earlier but you were still sleep. But I'm back and I brought a friend." Mina giggled. Kyubey had expected Keigo or Sero, but her eyes widened slightly and she blushed a little when Dabi walked into her apartment after Mina moved further into the room, letting him inside.
His eyes roamed over the small apartment and Kyubey inwardly cursed herself for not cleaning a little more even though it wasn't too messy.
His eyes met hers and she couldn't help but look him over, wishing she could look as good as he seemed to with almost no effort. "Hey doll. Are you painting something? Sorry about her, I did tell her to knock first." he said with a shrug and a small glare toward Mina which went ignored.
"I bet. She does this all the time unfortunately. And yes, I am painting." she said as Mina seemed to drift toward the kitchen. Dabi shook his head but took a seat on the couch as Kyubey sat back down to start her work. "Is this a commissioned piece?" he queried and she nodded distractedly, her arm steady as she dipped her brush into some blue paint.
He noticed she was trying to concentrate so he kept quiet while Mina made a lot of random noise.
"I'm listing off all the stuff you need so I can shove it in your fridge next time I come over." she called and Kyubey frowned, agitation clear on her pretty face. "Mina. It's fine."
"Does she do this all the time?" commented Dabi and Kyubey nodded absent mindedly. "Yes. Because it's a little difficult for me financially but I don't want people doting on me."
"It's not doting. It's looking out for you dummy." sang Mina, leaning over the counter to smile at her friend but Kyubey's brows scrunched and Dabi could tell she was a little embarrassed too. "Mina. Just leave it..if she really needs help we can help. But she seems fine right now." he said, trying to relieve the tension and Mina huffed but said nothing.
"I was gonna ask you to come with us to the race but you're busy." said Dabi as Kyubey began painting again and Kyubey nodded. "Yeah and the client is paying me a thousand for this so I can't stop any time soon." she replied and Dabi nodded in understanding. "Okay..do you want some company?" he asked, Mina looking between the two as Kyubey blushed, "Well we already talked on the phone all night."
"You guys had phone sex?!" squealed the outgoing woman and Kyubey's eyes widened, Dabi coughing. "No Mina. We just talked then fell asleep. Leah was in my bed. Why would I risk something like that in the living room?" he sighed and Kyubey made a face. "Stop being weird Mina. We're friends." she grumbled and Mina pouted. "That's no fun."
Kyubey rolled her eyes while Dabi shook his head. "I don't see how you guys are close..she's your exact opposite." he said and Kyubey snorted. "I wonder the same thing sometimes." She said but continued with her work. "I can hear you..anyway I gotta go get some things real quick you two have fun. And decide if you're going out with us." Mina sang as she made her way back to the front door, stepping out she shut the door behind her.
