I was woken up by my mother gently shaking me up. "Lyric, it's time to get up and get ready for school."

I groaned and rolled over to see her standing above me. She had a small smile on her face and left me alone to get ready. I felt a small bit of fear down inside me, which must be from a past memory but I'm not so sure.

I finally got out of bed and went over to my closet to see what clothes to wear. It was all so...Girly. I had a feeling this wasn't my type of style but I was going to have to deal with it because mom won't be too happy if I say otherwise.

I finally just grabbed a floral dress, some black flats and pullover, a flower crown and a necklace.

I walked to the bathroom and right when I was about to knock, the door swung open and Michael was coming out.

"Heya Lyric. Ready for you first day of school?" He smiled down at me.

"Yeah, but I'm also very nervous. I don't know why I feel that way it just... There." He nodded and gave me a quick hug.

"Don't worry about a thing. Since you're a freshman, you'll be in school with a couple of my friends. I dropped out to be in a band and all that but they'll be there to keep you company. Plus you look like me so you'll be easy to spot to them."

"Thank you Mikey." He smiled again and went down the hall to his bedroom. I sighed and went into the bathroom, taking a quick shower.

I put on the clothes and straightened my hair. I put on a small amount of mascara and eyeliner and looked into the mirror.

There was still something that I was missing. I looked down at my arms and my eyes widen. Scars covered both of the up my entire forearm.

I started to freak out a little because no one was going to want to be friends with me with these scars all over my arms.

'How could I have not noticed these before?' I thought while putting concealer over them to help hide them. I put some powder as well and that seemed to cover most of them.

I sighed in relief and exited the bathroom. Checking the time, I noticed it was 7:35. I rushed back into my room and grabbed my backpack, then running down the stairs.

"Mom we're gonna be late!" I exclaimed. She hopped up from the couch and grabbed her keys hanging from the wall.

We both went outside and Michael came along, too. He said he wanted to see me again before I went to school. I guess he's like this because I've been out of his life for over a decade.

"Mom can you turn on the radio?" She nodded and turned it on. The title of the song was Sick From The Melt by Motionless In White. It was a pretty good song, lots of screaming but it was pretty awesome with it in there.

We arrived at the school and Michael got out of the car with me. I gave a confused look.

"I want to go with you to make sure you get your schedule and everything taken care of."

"Ahhh." I said back while nodding. We walked in the school and Michael seemed to know where he was going since he's been here before.

I looked around at the kids in the hallway while passing back and I seemed to have their attention.

At least I hope in a good way.

The guys whispered and pointed at me with slight smirks on their faces. I kept close behind Michael so I wouldn't get left behind.

We walked into a small office and two women were sitting behind desks. They both looked up, almost in perfect sync, and smiled at the sight of Michael.

"Oh my goodness Michael," The first lady said. She hugged him tightly. "You've grown up so much." She pulled away to be replaced by the other lady.

"What are you doing here sweetie?"

"I just came in to help my sister get her schedule." He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and grinned down at me.

"Ahh you must be Lyric. Come come sweetheart and let's get your schedule." The second lady said, going to her desk and typing something into the computer.

A few moments later, the printer started up and printed my schedule off of it. She handed it to me.

"There ya go darlin'. If you have any questions don't hesitate one bit to come and ask." She gave a warm smile. "I'm Mrs. Kay and that is Ms. Elering."

"Do you mind if I show her around the school?" Michael asked.

"Not at all. It was great seeing you again Michael and best of luck for your music career." We waved goodbye and left the office.

"They seem really nice."

"They are. You're gonna love it here, trust me." He showed me everyone of my classes and around campus a little before he sighed sadly and turned towards me.

"I gonna miss you." He put his hands in his pocket.

"Don't worry, I'll be home later. We can play Fifa and eat pizza until we can't move." He smiled a little.

"And that's why you're the best sister in the world." He pulled me in for one last hug, then got into the car with mom and drove away.

I turned back inside and looked around again.

Here's to a new life.
