(Anyone notice the reference to the chapter title ayyye!! Okay carry on)
Lyric's Point Of View
It's been almost a month since I got out of that terrible hospital and went to live my mother. She still hasn't told me who those people were in the hospital room. Especially that guy that was claiming to be my father.
Last week I began to have a little headache but I chose to ignore it. I mean it was just a headache, it's not like it's gonna kill anyone.
I was sitting home alone since Michael had to go help mom at work again. He does that quite often. I asked him why he goes so much but he just said it was important business.
The front door opened slowly and carefully and Michael walked into the living room where I was sitting at. At first, I only glanced at him, but then something had caught my eye.
He had a busted lip and a forming black eye.
"Oh my God, Mikey what happened?!" I shouted, jumping to my feet and rushing over to him.
"It's okay Lyric, just stay away from mom when she gets home. She's a bit heated right now." I touched the black eye slightly and he winced back.
"Come on," I said, pulling him to the kitchen. "We're gonna get you all patched up." He sat at the table while I got an ice pack from the freezer and a washcloth.
I walked over to him and gently pressed the ice pack to his eye, making him hold it there. I ran the washcloth under cold water, the cleaning the blood from his lip.
"Now will you tell me how this happened?" He sighed and rubbed the temple of his head.
"Fine but it's kinda a long story."
"Well I've got time so," I finished cleaning his lip and threw the rag in a laundry basket. I pulled up a chair and sat in front of him. "You may begin."
Michael's Point Of View
~Earlier That Day~
"Hey mom, I was wondering if I could ask a few questions." She glared at me, a skeptical look crossing over her face.
"Well Michael, it depends on what it is about." She had an irritated tone in her voice that only appears when it's just me and her by ourselves.
"Okay, um...I wanted to ask about dad. Ya know 'cause I don't remember him that much, but I also wanna know why you left Lyric behind with him?" She looked a little angry and she stood up from her desk, tossing down the papers she was just holding.
"I thought I told you never to mention that man ever again. You just don't know when to keep your stupid mouth shut do you?" She walked up to me until she was right in my face...Well a couple of inches below my face.
"Can I just know why you left my little sister, your daughter behind with him if he was such a terrible person? What kind of mother does that? She was only three mom!" I yelled at her, not caring who heard me.
Her jaw twitched, a habit she had when she was angry.
"That man, CC, who adopted her will always be ten times the parent you'll ever be!"
In a moment's notice, she had raised her hand at me and hit me in the face. I don't know how many times she did, but as far as I knew my lip had busted open because I could feel the crimson liquid running down my chin.
"You will not tell Lyric about that man. She belongs to me, and she always will. If you do I will hurt you like you've never been hurt before. Now get the fuck out of my site before I beat you to hell." She walked back over to her desk and took a drink from her bottle which was actually alcohol.
"Stupid drunk." I muttered before leaving her office.
"I guess it wasn't that long of a story but that's what happened." I made sure to leave out the adoption part, afraid of mom's threat.
Lyric's Point Of View
"Oh Mikey," I got up from my chair and hugged him. "You absolutely did not have to do that. It's all my fault that you took that beating."
"It's okay Lyr, I'm used to it. I remember when we were kids, I used to take care of you when mom and dad argued, which was basically everyday. I guess I just got that sense again and decided to speak to mom about it."
"Thank you Mi-" My voice was cut off by the sound of the door swinging open.
"MICHAEL GET YOUR ASS RIGHT HERE NOW!!" My mom screamed before coming into the kitchen, seeing the two of us sitting by the table. "O-Oh, hi sweetie." She tried to say sweetly.
"Hello." I replied blandly. She looked a little shocked, but covered it up quickly with a fake smile.
"Lyric, why don't you go to your room? Me and Michael have some business to discuss." She said a bit bitterly, glaring over to Michael who just rolled his eyes.
"What if I don't want to?"
"Lyric. Go. Now." I looked at Mikey, who just nodded, and let out a sigh. I squeezed his hand before getting up and walking to my room.
As soon as my door shut, mom started shouting at him. She was saying awful things to him, like he was 'worthless' or 'idiotic.'
I laid down on my bed and covered my ears, wishing I could go back to my life before the stupid crash and memory loss.
