A year has passed since I lost both of my parents, I've managed to find an abandoned house to sleep in from time to time. I tried asking my mother's family if I can stay with them since I have nowhere to stay. My grandmother just look at me with little empathy and resentment as she says, " You know, I told my daughter not to adopt you. As soon as I seen you, I knew deep in my soul that you'd bring nothing but torment to us. It's clear to see that I was right all along. You took my daughter and my step son from me, so it's best you leave before you get me killed too".

As I set my bed on the floor, I notice the floor is roaming with roaches and you can hear mink size rats crawling in the empty walls. I try to sleep as much as I can but every time I close my eyes , I just see my parents bodies and my grandmother's voice telling me it's my fault. Soon enough I believe I have insomnia and I don't know how to sleep. I decided to go to a nearby corner store and steal some syrup that can help me sleep.

As I walk into the store, I hear the store clerk arguing with someone up front. I use this as an opportunity to sneak in without being noticed. As I grab the bottle and head to the door, I look at who the store clerk was arguing with and it was some kid that was trying to buy rolling paper. I pay it no mind until I look at his arm, and he has a large gash on it just like the kid that killed my father. I immediately feel homicidal tendencies filling up in me but I calm myself and decided on what's next. I go outside and wait for the kid to come out.

He came out and I stopped him and asked, " Ay bro, I sell dat shit if you tryna buy. I got ounces, .5, pounds, etc." The kid first looks at me in a confused state but then agrees to wanting to buy. I lead him to the abandoned house where I stay at asked the kid says, " Damn bro, what kind of trap is this. This shit looks like it's gone collapse any minute." I chuckled as I reply, " Well, I did have a better living situation but things happen." I then lead him to an empty room and we both sit down as I ask him, " So what's your name if you don't mind me asking." The kid looks at me and says, " My name is Mike Galloway, but I'm known in the streets as Kane."

I pull out a cigarette and light it while I take in a big inhale and exhale towards the roof. Kane then asks me, " So where's the weed bro I ain't got all day." I get up and reply, " You right bro my fault, guess I kinda dozed off for a second." As I walk towards him acting like I'm getting the weed, I noticed he has a gun on his waist. I immediately socked him in his eye as Kane fell to the floor holding his eye in pain as I grab his gun. Kane sits up and shouts, " AY MAN, WHAT THE HELL YOU GOT GOING ON." He quickly noticed that I have his gun and quickly calms down. I point the gun at him as I say, " You know, you may not realize it but you're the reason why I'm living here. You're the reason why I'm suffering right now, you're the reason why everybody keeps their distance from me out of fear.... YOU'RE THE REASON WHY MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!!"

Kane eyes begin to fill with tears as one of his eyes have blood mixing with the tears. He looks at me with a pitiful face as he says, " I didn't know, I didn't even realize that I killed him. I thought I just shot the glass to unlock the door. Please man, I don't wanna die. I got a lot to live for, I have my mother waiting for me man please.

I cock the gun and point it as his head as I release the whole round into his skull. His brain matter and skull fragments stained the room. As I finished unloading the clip, I throw the empty gun at his corpse and reply, " My parents had alot to live for too, now you're mother gotta know the pain my mother and I feel." Before I leave, I take my cigarette and throw it to the floor of the house as it begins to engulf in flames. I stand there for a minute emotionless as I then turn around and walk away. I then look at my hands and I continue to think, " Revenge can never bring a satisfactory feeling but it had to get done....or so I hope."
