"S&S"

A couple of months pass by and me and Sam are getting pretty close as friends. At this point, I was able to get a job in a warehouse working a forklift. The money is pretty good and I've been getting some more hours so I'm able to save up enough and get a new car. It's my day off and I decided to do something nice for Sam, I tell her to get ready and meet me outside soon. I get to the house a few minutes later and I see her standing outside in a long shirt and sweatpants. She got in the car and I sit there and look at her for a second, she looks back at me and replies, " What? If you were expecting me to wear a dress then you got another thing coming ". I laugh for a bit as I reply, " Nah I didn't expect you to wear one but it's actually amazing how beautiful you still look in regular clothes ". She pauses for a second while staring me in my eyes, she then puts her head down trying to hide her smile and says softly, " Thanks...".

So we're down the street from the place and Sam says, " I hope you're not taking me somewhere fancy while I look like this". We then pull up to a burger place that sells some of the best burgers in Alabama. I look at her and say, " Well unless you consider this fancy then you don't have to worry about that ". She smiles at me and we proceeded to go inside. We ended up having a really good time and I've never seen her smile and laugh that much since I first met her. We head back to the house and as we're heading inside, I open the door for her as she unexpectedly kisses me on the cheek as she says, " I've never had someone do something like that for me before, thank you". I stood there stunned for a bit as I then regained myself and replied, " It's no problem, it's the least I'd do for someone who's close to me".

A couple more months pass and we decided to make things official between us and we started dating. Through that time, I learned that Sam also had no parents growing up and was in and out of foster homes. I then tell her my story and upbringing in life so far and she started to cry for a bit and gave me a hug. We hugged each other for a while and then we shared a kiss. She then pulls back and says, " Words cannot describe what tortures and tragedy you had to go through. I'm honestly just glad that I've met you and we're able to give each other the love that we never received.

A year goes by now and I'm on my way to a jewelry store to buy Sam a wedding ring. I see this one ring in display and it's a blue diamond with silver metal. I buy the ring and words cannot describe the happiness and joy the flows in my mind and body. I tried calling Sam but she wasn't picking up, so I just head home and wait for her to arrive. A few hours go by and I'm a little worried, Sam would've been called by now and update me on her. I then get a call from a random unknown number, I answer and this lady says, " Good afternoon, is this Mr. Stephen Maxwell?". I replied back that I am who she says I am and she then tells me that, " Ok Mr.Maxwell my name is Nurse Jones and I'm calling you regarding your partner Samantha. I would please like for you to come down to the hospital as soon as possible ".
