I snatched the relic from Jebediah 's hand his shouts of horror ringing throughout the dining hall.

"Cease her" he shouted.

The men hesitated giving me just enough time.

I read the incantation on the relic out loud. "A wish asked a lost taken come forth oh goddess of fate."

It felt like Time stood still at that last word I looked around to see everything moving in slow motion. Then I heard a yawn and whirled around to face the sound. It was a teenage girl in a white dress stretching her arms wide.

"Hi child you rang" she said leaning forward to grab the piece of chicken off the platter.

"Well I -" I stopped she'd started chewing really loudly.

When she was done she looked at me an raised her eye brows "oh sorry. I uh haven't been summoned in a very long time. That chicken was scrumptious I tell you that" she said laughing

I smiled for a moment

"But you can make your request now the goddess said nodding her head."

"I would like to ask if you can bring back Gideon" I asked."

She whistled "man you drive a hard request she said. An another celestial at that she shook her head. You do know that you must pay a price of something precious to you correct?"

"Yes anything if it requires my powers take them I can't be without him. Our kingdoms are in shambles" I cried out to her.

"No need to plead a case to me I'll grant your request I just wanted to hear that you knew it would cost you something dear" she said looking around at the whole scene.

"Alright where is the body I suspect you used your ability of constant animation to retain his remains correct" the goddess said.

I nodded my head furiously unable to contain myself. I'd Dreamt of this happening for two years. it had started to become unrealistic Like a never ending nightmare. I lead her too the hall where his body was in a glass casket in a bed of flowers.

The goddess circled it and then stood on the ledge before stepping into the flowers and gliding her finger down the glass.

I could hear screaming behind us and I whirled around to see Jebediah an the two soldiers rushing towards us. Jebediah had my son Gabriel in hand with a blade to his throat.

"Tell her to stop before I slit this bastards throat" he said menacingly.

I could see a blood trail decending down his throat. "I screamed noooooo."

"Mommy please help me" cried outstretching his little hand to me.

Jebediah pressed the blade to his throat again "I command you to stop her now!"

When they came a little closer it's like they were back in the dining hall slow motion had taken over yet again. It was like coming near the goddess had slowed them down. "Why hadn't she said this before?"

"I would hurry and get the child if I were you" oh the goddess called out to me while removing the very heavy glass lid.

I ran to them pulling Gabriel from his hands. His eyes tracked everything I did I spit on his face and kicked him in the balls. I called to Gideon but no response.

The goddess snapped her fingers as she looked over Gideon in his casket.

When she did that Gabriel started moving at a regular pace. I crouched down in front of him. "Go get your brother and run as fast as you can."

He stared into my eyes and started crying. Wrapping his arms around my neck. "Mommy uncle Jeb ... He...he" Gabriel sniffles mumbling. I ran to the dining hall I had to see it for myself. I stood there staring at my son's body a sword through his chest. Blood dribbled down his mouth. I ran back grabbing the sword from the guards hand ready to kill Jebediah.

"Mommy" I heard a small voice say.

Gabriel's voice stopped me dead in my tracks. The sword clanged to the floor and I stumbled back to him overcome with an emotion indescribable.

The blood rushed from my face my stomach dropping through the air. I felt sick at what I'd just saw in that room. I looked back at the doorway to the dining hall trembling. I wailed from deep within this was a cry for everything the cry I hadn't had from Gideon dying on the battle field the cry, I hadn't had as Jebediah raped me, the cry I hadn't had as I was forced to sit by as my kingdom went to war after war.

I snapped too I'm sorry Gideon I have to save my son I thought. I stood abruptly turning my head back to the goddess. But it was too late she'd bowed her head muttered some words under her breath and touched his chest.

No I thought not my boy I can't lose my child. My chest caved in on itself as I sunk to the floor. Beating it viciously my fists breaking marble. I could hear the rumbles as I shook the foundation of this palace. Gideon I cried his name over and over. I went to slam my hand down again but a hand wrapped around my wrist softly but securely.

"I'm here my love I'll never leave again I promise you " Gideon said looking at me with the most soul shattering look. I cried even harder because all I could see was my son's face. An it broke something inside me I never even thought existed.
