I stood in front of the class, looking at the alolan vulpix in my arms to avoid meeting the gazes of the other students.

"Hello.. my name is y/n, and I'm from alola." I said, after the teacher had asked me to introduce myself. "It's nice to meet you all.."

Whispers spread throughout the class.

"Is that a vulpix?"

"Maybe it's a shiny.."

"Her outfit is cute."

"Thank you, y/n. You can take the empty seat towards the back, there's not many desks available." The teacher smiled, and I walked to the back before settling down with vulpix.

Class resumed, and as it did I almost jumped out of my skin as a hand tapped my shoulder. Behind me was a boy who looked to have hair of a silver color, and blue eyes.

"Excuse me, fair maiden. I thought I'd be the first to welcome you to this school, seeing that nobody else has taken the honor." He held out a hand, and I put mine in his to shake.

He placed a kiss on the back of my hand like some gentleman. "I'm Atticus, pleased to meet you." He seemed amused by my shocked reaction.

"I'm y/n.. nice to meet you too.." I hoped my face wasn't flustering. Vulpix climbed down my arm, sniffing at his hand. "What an interesting Pokémon you have.." Atticus mused. "I've never seen anything like it before."

"Oh, it's an alolan vulpix. I didn't know that there were fire type vulpix, until I came here." I muttered, watching vulpix climb back onto my shoulder. "In alola, vulpix are standardly ice types."

Atticus nodded, as though he was actually interested. "Fascinating. You are full of surprises, aren't you?" I shrugged at his question, before the bell rang.

Everyone rushed out of the classroom, Atticus hanging back and walking with me into the hall.

"How about I show you to the cafeteria? You can meet some friends of mine, if you feel inclined." Atticus offered.

"Really? Thank you." I gave him a smile, not noticing his face turning pink. "Right this way." With that we were off, and I was led through my new school by a newly made friend.

At least my first day was going okay.
