Today went as usual.

Classes, lunch with friends, and doodle pokemon in class.

Until everything went haywire.

Students were condensing by the doors to the school yard, I barely managed to weave through the crowd to see what in paldea was going on.

Oh, how I wish I didn't see it.

A group was stood, shaking like a leaf in the wind as they were surrounded by five people wearing rather unique variants of modified school uniforms.

Those five people being my friends.

"And if you so much as bother us again, you'll be seeing stars. Got it?" Mela scowled at a quaking boy with enough intensity for me to freeze from my spot.

Vulpix sat on my shoulder, equally as shocked at the scene before us. Rockruff's pokéball shook in my bag, as if eager to leap out.

My friends stood menacingly, pokéballs in hand while they stared down the group they encircled. The poor students looked like they were about to pass out.

My body staggered a few steps forward, out of the crowd.

"Guys?" My voice barely held up, wavering. Five pairs of eyes turned to me, and I saw their faces fill with shock.

Rockruff emerged from its ball, taking a defensive stance in front of me and growling.

"It's not what it looks like.. we were just-" Eri held a hand out, reaching out towards me before being cut off my someone screaming, the crowd behind me turning and stampeding down the hall.

In my friend's distraction, the group they had surrounded wove between them. One student grabbed my arm as he ran, dragging me with.

Rockruff jumped into my school bag, keeping it's eyes on the slowly shrinking scene.

"Run, those delinquents are gonna get us!" Someone yelled.

I turned back to look at the people I called friends, cursing my eyes for making tears that I tried to keep from spilling with no success.

Couldn't I just have a normal life somewhere?

After retreating to my dorm, I sat in shock.

My friends... delinquents?

They seemed far too nice for that title, but then what was the scene I saw in the school yard? My head spun as my thoughts raced, like an angry swarm of beedrill.

Shuddering, I lay on my bed and tried to quell my brain's incessant thinking. Rockruff and vulpix clambering up and getting comfy, falling asleep next to me as I stared out the window.

Maybe I should've stayed home.
