It wasn't often that the academy gave the students a day where the only assignment was to go out and explore, only requiring students to learn something new as they roamed.
And the paldea pit was off limits, for the safety of the students.
Made me wonder what was down there...
My roaming mind was halted as I saw Eri approaching. "Hi Eri." I grinned, the athletic girl giving a smile. "Hey there, Wanna come exploring with us?" She offered.
I nodded, vulpix giving a happy cry. "Sounds great!"

"A rockruff!" I beamed, looking at the puppy pokémon. "They're from alola too!" I scampered off from my friends with a quick 'I'll be back!', not noticing their distraction as they chatted.
With that I darted off, carefully following the wild rock puppy.

It was after a few minutes that the group finally noticed that their favorite alolan had gone missing, after Giacomo went to ask her a question.
"Heya y/n, what do you think about this new track? Im trying to give it a tropical feel-" Giacomo stopped. "Uh.. where's y/n?"
"What do you mean where's y/n? She's right here..." Mela scoffed at Giacomo before trailing off. "Oh, never mind."
"Y/n is missing?!" Ortega fretted. "She's only got one Pokémon on her, and she's not familiar with the area!"
"We must locate our dearest foreign student. To arms, my friends!" Atticus ordered, and the team began to search the area.

"C'mere rockruff, I won't hurt ya." I soothed to the slightly on-edge pokémon, oran berry in hand. It had gotten into a fight with another wild Pokémon, leaving it a little worse for wear.
Vulpix watched from my shoulder as the Rockruff cautiously approached my outstretched hand, before taking a bite of the oran berry and scarfing it down. "There you go." I smiled as it finished the berry off, before it's tail slowly began to wag.
It sniffed at my hand, before rubbing it's head against it, tail wagging faster. "Aren't you so sweet?" I cooed, before realizing I'd been gone from my friends for some time now.
"Oh, I've gotta find my group again." I said, brushing off my pants and standing. Rockruff's bark stopped me, and I look back. "What's up?"
It ran to where my bag rested, grabbing a pokéball in its mouth and returning to me. "Oh? Do you wanna come with?" I mused, gently tapping the pokéball against the rockruff's head.
The ball didn't even rattle once before clicking, the rockruff must've taken a liking to me. I smiled, letting rockruff out to walk at my side.
"Let's go find my friends."

"She couldn't have gotten too far, I'm sure of it!" Eri said as they searched, growing more panicked as the sun slowly dipped to the horizon.
"Heyyy!" A familiar voice called, and the group looked up to see y/n, sliding down the side of a steep hill.
"Y/n!" My friends yelled in a panic, watching me slide and rushing to catch me at the bottom. "Hiya." I chirped.
"Where were you?" Mela asked, giving me a once-over for any scrapes or bruises. "I made a new friend!" I smile, before picking up rockruff from the ground beside me.
"We were very worried for your safety, lady y/n." Atticus said. "Yeah, its good to see you're okay!" Ortega added. "You gave everyone a spook." Giacomo laughs.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I said, pulling everyone into the best group hug I could manage. "I got a little distracted, but I'll try my best not to do it again!" I released the hug.
"We should probably get back before we're out past curfew." Giacomo stated, looking at the sky.
With that we began to walk back to school, basking in eachother's company and the colors of the setting sun.
