"Phi! " Porchay ran off to hug his older brother tightly after seeing him preparing something in the kitchen. Porsche returned the hug before placing the tongs on the sink. They stayed in that position for a couple of seconds.
Porsche breaks the hug and gently strokes his brother's hair. "What's up with you being so sweet today, huh?"
Porchay did not respond. They only see each other once a month, so he wants to tease his younger brother a little, but he forgot that Porchay doesn't like puns.
To lighten up the mood, Porsche switched the subject and pulled his brother to sit in front of the table where he was preparing several dishes. Porchay, who loves food, quickly forgot everything when he took a spoonful of Tom Yum Goong, a spicy shrimp soup.
Porsche smiled broadly while taking off his green apron, and he sat across from his brother. Seeing Porchay with that complacent smile makes him so happy, and he will cherish it every moment. If only he could be with him every day.
They had already discussed it; he tried everything he could to make him live with them at the minor family's house, but this kid won't tell him why he can't leave this house. He explained that he wouldn't be living there indefinitely and that he could visit this house whenever he wished, but he ended up receiving the same response.
"Don't you really have any plans to live with your dear older brother?" He tried to ask one more time, but Porchay only shook his head, like he always does whenever he is asked about that.
He straightened up when his brother called out his name. "Do you consider it acceptable to love someone but not be loved in return in the same way that you love him romantically?"
That question had no surprise for him, but what followed did. "Even if they're both of the same gender?" He paused for how long it took him to let those words sink in. Porchay is well aware of his relationship with Kinn, so he tried to give him some advice.
"Is it Kim?" He knows it is rude to ask, but he wants to clarify if that's the guy to whom his brother is referring. It's completely obvious from the first line that he's talking about his love life. His brother wanted to bring this up, so he decided to find out if it was his husband's younger brother.
Porchay nodded, returning his gaze to the almost empty soup. Being a full-time mother, father, and older brother to his only sibling, he had no idea how his brother ended up falling for someone like Kim. "That is the most common problem with getting attached to someone, and I won't reason out the age. He was able to clear up any confusion between you two, and I know that it's very hard to accept the other party's response. I know he's not leaving you as if you'll never see each other again, but knowing that you will never get the love you deserve from him is emotionally draining. You've been hurt and betrayed by inflicting your own heartbreaks through expectations; pretty stupid, isn't it? But what options do we have? We've fallen madly in love." He took a pause. "You may be feeling completely disoriented right now, but there are just days when you don't know what to focus on, as if you're floating through life and unable to do certain things."
Porchay remained oddly silent. This is the first time he has indirectly sought advice from his older brother.
"It's okay to miss someone who either purposefully or unintentionally hurt your feelings," Porsche said softly, fiddling with his ring, which Kinn had given him while they were on a cruise ship. "I've felt this too sometimes, back when I still hadn't met Kinn. I am happy being single and deciding everything on my own, but sometimes I wish to be with someone else as well. Marriage or long-term relationships don't guarantee faithfulness. If the relationship is no longer healthy, then don't put yourself through it. You should love yourself if you've always chosen happiness over emotional and mental suffering." Porsche smiled brightly, making Porchay squint his eyes.
"Phi, are you still talking about mine or?"
"Both." Porsche replied quickly when Porchay flashed his naughty smile. "You being interested in someone you never thought you'd be interested in makes you lose your mind a little; I never thought you'd fall for someone like Kim." Dropping the issue, Porsche's smile widened as he realised his only brother was now in love. He still can't believe how quickly their lives changed just like a snap because of one person. Thinking back again, he doesn't want to compare his relationship with Kinn and the love life of his brother, but if the whole situation were different, Porchay's life would be 50/50. His brother couldn't just do whatever he wanted, especially in public. His entire life would be thrown into doubt. This may seem self-serving and selfish, but he is grateful to Kim for not loving his brother back.
With a heavy sigh, Pochay smiled bitterly at his older brother. "I used to see it in movies, but now I'm the actor who's in deep pain because I love someone who wasn't ready to commit to a relationship but always made me smile and feel special but ended up in a no-label breakup."
The mood shifts quickly, so he wisely chooses the words that will come out of his mouth. "We'll have far too many people in our lives... What we can do is cherish those we have now and learn to appreciate whatever lessons people from our past have taught us; that's life, and you have to accept it. Chay, you don't have to constantly think negatively; you just need more time to heal."
"But what if time is the illness?" Porchay immediately responded with a spoonful of Tom Yum Goong in his mouth. Porsche finds it cute.
"Time does not heal everything, but acceptance will. Do yourself a favour and learn how to walk away," Porsche shrugged. "When connections begin to fade, learn how to let them go. When that person mistreats you, figure out how to move on to someone better. Don't waste your time trying to force something that isn't meant to be, because for every person who doesn't value you, there are many of them who are waiting to love you better. Every change necessitates sacrifice." He paused for a moment because he remembered something, "But in your case, you can still be friends with Kim if you want. But I think you'd better not." Porsche whispered the last line. "We had been through a lot in the previous half year, and yet we still had to go back to work and do stressful things. We should go out and see the world sometime."
Porchay was quick to react. He then wrapped his arms around his older brother's. "Phi, you should consider going to London, naaaaaa~," he said with his sparkling eyes.
"I will if you wipe that mess off your mouth."
