Whispers of Magic

Chapter Two

I'm almost at school when I see the hottest group in the school, the Gods. That's what everyone calls them at the school. At least I just try to avoid them. The reason that they are called the Gods is because they are literally the children of Gods and are the future Gods. I see them all standing there in a group talking except for one Hades he keeps glancing around the parking lot; then his gaze stops when it lands on me for a second. I see his eyes widen when he looks at me. He takes a step toward me but before I realize what's happening I have taken off running through the parking lot and to the building. By the time I reached the building the bell had rang and I didn't even have time to think about what happened. I don't think I've ever noticed because I always keep to myself in class but some pretty powerful players were in my class with me. Hades is in this class he keeps glancing at me and every time he looks at me my heart flutters in my chest and I start to feel strange.Maybe i'm getting sick.

In today's History class we learned about how creatures in today's society became who we are right now. The story goes that we were once all fairytale creatures in children's storybooks. Then came the Mother. She created us her children and made a world where we would all be accepted no one outcasted except one witches. I honestly believe that the mother didn't know one of her children would be outcasted amongst society. But along with the story of the mother came a prophecy of one of her children. The prophecy said once upon a time a young girl of seventeen winter shall walk among the earth and become the new Mother when the original Mothers life comes to an end. The rest of the prophecy was lost so we don't know anything about the girl or what else she will do. I find the story of the Mother creating us and seeing us as her children very comforting because I believe everyone wants to have that unconditional love that you only see in movies and books or your soulmate.

It's lunch time and I'm hiding under my favorite tree away from the glares and jabs on me throughout the day. "Some Birthday this is turning out to be, and I haven't seen my soulmate at all" I was very upset about this day and it seems to be that I was about to have an even worse day than before when I saw him coming toward me. He had dark black hair and glowing red eyes with a strong build but lean at the same time he was very handsome looking to me. As those thoughts left my head I saw that Hades kept walking towards me even as I tried to think up a plan to get away from him. Then I felt a tingling on my wrist. It was my soulmate mark and I know he noticed it too because his face curved into a smile I had never seen before. He reached me before I could even think and he opened his mouth and said "Well aren't you the cutest soulmate that anyone could have asked for" . I hesitated for a second then opened my mouth and said "ummm...thank you lord Hades". When he heard me call him lord Hades he seemed upset about it and opened his mouth and said "You can just call me Hades". When he said that in that soft gravelly voice I couldn't stop myself from smiling again and saying "thank you Hades". He smiled that beautiful smile that was so rarely seen in public I couldn't help but be amazed by it. "I'm happy that I have finally met my soulmate. I have been waiting a long time for you. Tell me about yourself and I'll tell you about me in turn". I was nervous about telling him anything about myself but I believed that I could trust him so I opened my mouth and said "My name is Amarah Bates today is my birthday, I have a cat named Hermes, he's my best friend, I'm not very close with my family, and I have no friends, also i'm a witch." When those words fell from my lips I waited with bated breath for him to say something about what I had just said but all he said was "Well hello beautiful Amarah. My name is Hades and I am what people call a God and one day I will rule the underworld like my father. I'm close with my half brothers and the rest of my family, also I like cute little witches with beautiful Red and Purple eyes." When he said that I felt my heart flutter with happiness. My lips stretched into a grin I haven't grinned in years. When he saw this it was like he was at a loss of breath because of me. "I believe my lovely little witch you are the most beautiful person I have ever seen." "Thank you Hades, you're very handsome as well". His lips curl up in a smile and I know he is finally going to ask about the mark and just like I predicted he said "Can I see your soulmate mark?" "You can if you let me yours." He raises his wrist as I do the same thing and we both look at our marks. The mark that I was looking at on his wrist was a snake with glowing red eyes warped around a crescent moon. I couldn't help but reach out and run my fingers along his wrist. He did the same to me and as soon as we both touched it was like his memories flew into me and mine went into him I saw when he was younger and found out what type of God he was. I saw him founding his soulmate mark and him with his family and him smiling and I saw me. I knew what he was seeing. He was seeing what happened to me when I found out about my magic. He was seeing me reading my grimoire. And he was seeing me getting my soulmate mark. When we looked at each other we both had tears in our eyes and he was holding me in his strong and kind embrace. It had been so long since I had been held. I broke down in tears in my soulmate's arms.

The day ended and I began to head to the front of the parking lot at school when I heard my name being called. I turned around and saw Hades walking toward me with his brothers and their soulmates. I was nervous but I did want to see Hades so I stopped walking and waited for them to reach me. When they got in front of me Hades reached out and grabbed my hand. I think he knew I was nervous. He said "Guys this is my soulmate Amarah" when he said that I felt the eyes of everyone on me and I opened my mouth and said "H..he-y n-nice to m-m-meet you" as soon as I got those words out of my mouth I slammed it shut. Zeus, the oldest of the siblings smiled at me and said "Hey it's nice to meet you too. I hope you're prepared to deal with this crazy family" he said with a gigantic smile on his face. Poseidon also said "it's nice to meet you as well Amarah. I hope we can get along as well" I smiled at him and nodded my head. Then their two mates began to talk to me Hera opened her mouth first and said "as one of the only other women in the group I hope we can get along" I responded by saying "yes I hope we can get along as well" and final the last one in the group spoke Amphitrite she said "Yes I hope we can all get along as well. Come eat lunch with us tomorrow please." I couldn't say no so my response was of course a yes. His friends and family began to walk away leaving me and Hades all alone. I looked over at him and he looked at me too.He smiled at me and grabbed my hand asking me if he wanted him to walk me home. For the first time in a long time the smile stretched across my face in a wide and happy grin.
